Please give verses and/or reasonings to show that at salvation that we are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, rather than receiving the Holy Spirit later as a second work of Grace. Dictionary for salvation: "1. the saving or freeing from difficulty, danger, destruction or evil. 2. A person or thing that saves or frees. (3) The freeing of the soul from sin and from punishment for sin; redemption." I have read that there could be 3 tenses of salvation: 1) Past tense. Christ paid the Penalty for us on the cross. 2) Present tense. We are being saved from the Power of sin [perhaps daily sanctification?]. 3) Future tense. We will be saved from the Presence of sin. [to be with the Lord in heaven, perhaps?]...Now the dictionary definition of indwelling: "To exist within as an inner activating spirit, force, or principle." [from m-w.com ] My wife and I need to know the verses that this is based upon. Is this really biblical to belive that upon salvation that we are indwelt with the Holy Spirit who comes to live within us? Thanks for reading, Mr. Messy.

1Co 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
1Co 6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
1Co 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
1Co 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

There are many verses spread throughout the NT. I think you and your wife might be blessed to read John, Acts, Romans, Hebrews, and then the rest of the NT together.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

You took the verse out of my mouth! If a person says they are saved but do NOT have the Spirit of God, they are sadly mistaken.

    They are not saved.

Great verses, Romans 8:9 pretty well says it all. Here are a few others.
