    Nice dodge.

It's a simple straight forward question. Why do you avoid answering?

I am not in favor of any nation developing nuclear weapons that does not already have them.

And I certainly wish that Pakistan didn't have them as that government could fall into the hands of Islamic militants at any moment. Maybe Iran is a lot less of a pressing concern than Pakistan is. What happens is the Musharraf government falls to the Islamic militants?

If Iran was attempting to develop a nuclear weapon, at this point I would not be in favor of taking military action against it. The potential damage to our economy and the rest of the free world is simply too great to risk. Iran would fight back, unlike the Iraqi army and leaders.

If the Bush administration does decide to attack Iran then it had best prepare the American people for the sacrifices they will have to make and the hard times that they will have to endure.

I think this is where the most danger is at this present time.

BTW, as far as Iran and nuclear weapons are concerned. I think we, along with the rest of the free world, should keep a close eye on what Iran is doing and prepare for the worse while using every means possible to avoid a military confrontation. However, if Iran should acquire these weapons with the ability to use them effectively, then the U.S. should use whatever means is necessary, including a military strike or more to neutralize the threat.

When they "acquire these weapons with the ability to use them effectively", it may be too late.

Any kind of strike invites nuclear retaliation against someone, most likely Israel. Then, guess what happens...

With the religious fanatics running the Iran, is there any real doubt that they will use them if they have them?

TIM may I suggest some reading? John Toland,INFAMY (pearl harbor and its aftermath) After reading this you might want to reconsider the premise for your thread.

Are you personally prepared to pay the price for the economic fallout of oil up to $200/bbl. or more, the Mideast oil fields probably in flames, our troops in Iraq potentially under fire from hundreds of thousands of Shiites who rise up in support of the Iranians?

Since a sizable number, if not most, of the people in Iran are pro-Western(particularly those under 30 years of age) why don't we work with them to change the culture in Iran instead of simply using that threat of sanctions or military action?

Please know that I'm not condoning what Hitler did,but know that he was taking his clues from america and their EUGENICS movement.
He studied what was taking place at COLD SPRINGS HARBOR ,New York, and partly due to the harseness of the treaty of Verssais(forgive the spelling please) he beleived,(and I don't agree) that he had no choice. He couldn't feed his people....Read ,Better for all the world ,it is a history of americas eugenics movement, really quite a dirty little secret.......(now the abortion movement) they changed the strategy from you have no right to reproduce to,you have a right not to reproduce, from forced sterilization to birth control via abortion, from sterilizing the mentally hadicapped to aborting children of those that they deem to be (undesirable) i.e. poor, black, white,etc....

by the way,we slaughter our own,(abortion)and threaten our neighbors.........

If WWIII is to be avoided it will be true americans, patriots, and christians, all praying to GOD as II chronicles 7:14 tells us "If my people that are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways,I will hear from heaven and heal their land"

    Yes

This would be the best solution.

BTW, I would not support a strike against Iran unless it was the absolute last resort, and we were likely to be attacked ourselves. As far as Israel is concerned, they are capable of taking care of themselves.

    That's good.

I wonder if most Americans have the same willingness.

The lesson for muslim radicals: provoke the US into perpetual war.

We are committing economic suicide. As long as we keep fighting, our economy is going to become more and more volatile. We may see Great Depression II soon.

They don't have to kill us; they need only scare us and bankrupt us.

I don't believe that the Soviet Union "chickened out." I think the US ran them into the ground economically. Of course, we took a beating too in the arms race.

Ken, this is an excellent point. However, it looked like the same was the case, in China, before the crackdown at Tiananmen Square. They have not been able to establish a political foothold, still.

Read this from the this source:

    http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=277943482151899

//The fact is that soon, earlier than 2015,
an Iranian freighter in international waters off, say,
California, could launch a nuclear-armed Scud
over the American heartland. The warhead would detonate
high in the night sky, unleashing an electromagnetic pulse frying
the Times' presses and sending the U.S. economy
back 100 years. The war on terror would be over,
    and we would have lost.//

Is your bank's computer in a Faraday Cage?
If not, all your money can disappear in an instant
an electromagnetic pulse (without directly killing anybody).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage

[A note on living in Tornado Alley instead of
on the Saint Andres Fault: It only costs about
20% of a basement's price to make it a Faraday Cage.
    Such a basement protects against
Electromagnetic pulse AND tornadoes (not to mention
fallout from a 'small' Pakistani-Indian war).
    Basement's don't protect from earthquakes :( ]

(change made: levels of parens clarified)

To this day there are still sources who say to look for Iraq's weapons of mass distruction in Syria some of which have probably made thier way into Iran. This guy who is running Iran is a nut job and he will as soon as he is able attack Israel.
Our liberal press, politicians, and weak sister liberal citizens do not remember the lesson Lord Chamberlin taught us. You do not appease these guys. They are already attacking us and killing us. It's just a question of how strongly we respond. They don't care how long it takes. They watched what the press, chicken congressmen and weak liberal citizenry can do for thier cause when they saw how we backed out of Vietnam. We did'nt lose that war on the battlefield it was the cowards at home that lost that war for us and it will be the cowards at home that do us in now.:BangHead:

So, starting a war will prevent World War III?

And as for Iraq's WMD, they do not exist. They didn't exist when we went into this war, and they don't exist today. There is NO WAY these WMD could have gotten across the border, and there is NO WAY Saddam would have parted with them if he had them. If he had them, he would have used them.

    I believe you are correct.

This rush to war is very disturbing.
