Considering the 21,000+ that died in Iran this past week, how many do you think heard the Gospel and were saved? Or do you believe that those who do not know, or have not heard the Gospel go to Heaven? What are your thoughts.

I hope and pray some were able to see the Jesus Film and find Him as their Savior.

    http://www.jesusfilm.org

Pray that many will see the Jesus Film before it is eternally too late!

The Jesus Film Project is a very worthwhile project to support in getting the Gospel to a lost and dying world.

This topic comes up every now and then. Many folks on the board lean towards the concept that those who have not had the opportunity to hear have not had the opportunity to reject. This is certainly true of the ill, infirmed, children, and retarded. It's possible that this applies to those separated by geography and the like.

Since we cannot be sure, it is better to continue to refrain from judging ot surmising a person's salvation, as instructed by the Bible, for only God knows a person's heart.

I must also respectfully disagree with the last post about the Jesus film. First, I've seen the film, and it's not very good. In fact, it's rather poor. Second, it's rather simplistic to presume that just because someone watches a film (or hears a bible story, or reads a bible verse) is going to get saved. Introducing someone to the Lord, thus spreading the Gospel, is often a continuous process over a long period of time, not a one-shot deal. Of course, it's easier to for us to pat ourselves on the back for trying to spread the Gospel if we think it's a one-shot deal.

Here are the verses I was looking for:

    Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
according to this, creation itself proclaims God, so that they are without excuse

Johnv, what do you mean "one-shot deal." Do you not believe that a person that hears the Gospel for the first time can be saved?

John, I'm sorry you feel as you do.

People in some parts of the World are HUNGRY to find Jesus because they have not become hardened to the Gospel like some people in the West!

Lives are being changed thru showing the Jesus Film and spreading of the gospel by ministry teams and believers are being baptized and churches started and the kingdom is being added to daily around the globe because of this film!

I praise God for the ministry of the Jesus Film project. The Jesus Film has been translated in many languages, including FARSI which is a language spoken in Iran.

Sample letter from a ministry team:

I think this is sad indeed that these ancients Persians died this way. Of course God in His sovereign will allowed it, as He allowed Sept 11th. We must pray for the survivors and I hope the Christians here in the US, etc can offer them a kind hand.

It is sad. It is indeed a terrible tragedy.

I am moving this to the General Discussion forum since there is no News Article attached to this thread.

Perhaps others will have some input on the OP.

    Thanks for understanding,

What a tragedy when so many in a region which rarely is exposed to the gospel suffers a disaster like this. Very few probably ever heard the gospel. This should serve to remind us of our great responsibility to go.

I just reread my post, and realized after the fact that I failed to give credit where it is due. I am indeed aware of the fact that the Jesus Film Project is a worthy organization. I also have no doubt that the film has often helped plant a seed that would bring people to the Lord. Their endeavor to translate the film into countless other languages is well documented and worthy of note. My cause for concern whas simply with the poor quality of the production, and any implication that getting someone to watch a film is all we need to do to spread the Gospel.

I believe that a person who hears the Gospel for the first time can be saved. Where I part ways is when someone thinks that just "telling" someone about Jesus qualifies as the Gospel. It is only part of the Gospel. For me to think I can sit down with someone, tell them what I know about Jesus (as if that were possible to do in just one sitting), get up, wipe my hands and be done with it, and think that I've successfully preached the Gospel, would make me a rather inneffective ambassador of Christ. As I said before, it's rather simplistic to presume that just because someone hears a bible story, reads a bible verse, or watches a film, that person has heard the Gospel. Introducing someone to the Lord, thus spreading the Gospel, is often a continuous process over a long period of time, not a one-shot deal.

God deals with lost folks based on how they respond to their conscience - Romans 2:6-16

God obligated Himself to “shew the salvation of God” to folks who respond to their conscience and try to live as their conscience tells them to live (ordereth his conversation aright) - Psalm 50:23

Many folks in third world countries listen to short wave radio.

Short wave broadcasts of Christian programming in many languages make it possible that many people in Bam heard the gospel preached.

We hope many of them responded.
