And child abuse isn't a loaded term?

It's obvious that you consider the Jewish Holocaust heineous enough to justify exposing children at a certain age to the atrocities in the name of education, and that you don't consider abortion as heinous if heinous at all. And there's only one reason one would make a distinction between the two—politics.

That's why you would dare to call Granny's methods "child abuse." The welfare of Granny's kids isn't what concerns you at all. It's their indoctrination.

    Dear Brother Aaron,
I am not making the institution of public education sanctified nothing.

I was making a point there are many who do work in the school system who do serve God.

IMHO, the children are starving for the truth.

    Dear Magnetic Poles,
God is still Sovereign Creator of the Universe.

I proslytized no one. I responded directly to questions addressed to me in the context of the material being taught.

If that bothers you I am sorry for you.

    Bro. Dallas,

It is remarkable how it appears people don't read what was posted, but glean something entirely different. I never said you proselytized. Here is my quote again:

Did I hit a nerve or something?

If a child asks a Satanist teacher about their beliefs in the context of the class, is it then fine for them to share their beliefs with the student?

    Dear Magnetic Poles,
Maybe it is the electro-magnetic field ???

    I guess you did hit a nerve, sorry. You would think a Sub. Teacher's nerves would be much deeper wouldn't ya? &gt;grin&gt;

I guess it would be pointless for me to say I believe our Supreme Court has destroyed the constitution...wouldn't it?

Anyway, when the questions first arose, being only a subs. in a regular teacher's classroom (who btw is a state legislator, don't know if I mentioned that prior or not), I wondered what I would do. At first I quickly dismissed them as an attempt to draw me off topic.

Then the questions continued and although not all were perhaps in sincerity, who am I to judge the heart of another?

Anyway, I made a conscious choice as a regenerated child of God to trust in Him alone and to answer straightforward questions with as brief and straightforward answers. I always prefaced any answer with this is what I believe scripture to teach.

(This is different than my teaching or preaching method in dealing with those who come to hear; where scripture speaks absolute I make the attempt to show that, where it does not I do not).

In this case, I made it very obvious that if anyone was offended the discussion would end and that by no means did I ever tell anyone anything that they must believe as truth in order to be 'saved'.

I always in every and all cases leave the setting apart unto salvation and belief of the truth to the Spirit. That is the Biblical position and the only 'safe' course we are permitted to follow.

    May God Bless,
    Bro. Dallas

Sure I do. I know what concerns you by what you've written. You called Granny's methods "child abuse," and protested my use of the phrase, "American Holocaust," in reference to abortion.

That speaks volumes about where your concerns are.

But perhaps you could clarify your position. Answer this simple question: At what age is a child old enough to to be exposed to graphic records of the Holocaust?

As to the role that American public schools should play in religious education...

If it isn't Christian education, then it isn't education at all. I think that's what Christa McAuliffe would be saying if she could speak to us now, but God already said it, and if we don't believe Him, neither would we believe it if Christa McAuliffe returned from the dead to tell us so.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

    Dear Brother Aaron,
I don't understand your previous post. Was Christa McAuliffe a Christian School Educator?

(I know who she was and what she accomplished, so that is not what I am asking, but what type of school did she teach in?)

The fishers of men should be interested in catching and cleaning the fish, not trying to clean the lake. The lake will forever be polluted.

In case you didn't catch that- we should be trying to win the lost to Christ, not trying to stop their sin. The sin will always be in the world. But once someone is under the blood and has the Holy Spirit in their life, change will occur.

Your preaching to a bunch of deaf ears. The world doesn't care about their sin. But once they are born again, their hearts will change.

    Aaron,

I repeat, you do NOT know what concerns me. You are so off base. For you to state that there is ONLY Christian education shows a lack of understanding about education. Is 2+2=4 only true for Christians? Is the earth average distance to the sun 93-million miles not true for Jews? Facts are facts. Religion has no bearing on it.

As for an appropriate age for a child to view horrors of the holocaust or any other horrific images varies from child to child. I would not take a child to an R-Rated movie either. Apparently YOUR writings reveal your mind that there is no inappropriate viewing material for minor children.

2+2=4 because that is the way that God made it.
    Man still discovers God's laws.
Is it man or God that knows that 2+2=10 in a base 3 number system? [IMG]
Man only discovers what God already knows. It is presumptous to say that these are man's laws. Teaching in a Christian school, we teach things from God's point of view, not from a humanist point of view which makes a big difference.

The biggest difference comes out both in the sciences like biology (creation) and in social studies. (Millions of years ago man...)

The earth is about 93 million miles from the sun because that is the way that God created in the first six days of creation, when he created all things. We have a wonderful God who created the universe, the earth, and all that is therein for the benefit of mankind who he also created out of his incomprehensible love. He demonstrated that love by dying for the penalty of his sin, that he might have forgiveness of sin, and one day be with Him in Heaven.

I doubt if secular humanistic schools take that approach to education. Education in Christian schools, not matter what the subject, is Bible based, and Christ centered. Or at least it ought to be.

    Dear DHK,
    Thanks.

I just think it is a shame to speak so lowly (if not condemnable)of individuals simply because they work in public schools.

I know many, many Social Studies and Earth Science teachers who are more worhty than some give them credit.

Only God knows them that are His.

I am not trying to condemn the person that teaches in the public school system. Some people may be called to do so. I condemn the system itself; its curiculuum, and generally what I have observed and read what happens in the public school systems. You can't overturn the entire system, but you can make a difference wherever you are, and that holds the same for each one of us, no matter what the secular work we have. We are the light of this world, the salt of the earth.

Christa McAuliffe was a public school teacher, and a very good one by the world's standards. My point was, that whether she is in heaven or hell (I have no way of knowing) she knows now the One Thing she should not have neglected teaching those children.

So all the folks going to private schools run by local Jewish synagogues are getting no education?

I want everyone to pay close attention to what Poles said above. God said that the fear of the Lord is not only the beginning of knowledge, but it is also the beginning of wisdom. Poles says it isn't.

    Who should we believe?

But not even the public school system believes it's primary purpose is to teach the bare bones of facts. Those who know the public education system, what is the philosophy of public education? What are the mission statements of the schools in your area?

On their sign by the road, one local high school said, "What good does it do Johnny to learn to read if Johnny has low self-esteem?"

I prefer Christ's version, "What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"

As for an appropriate age for a child to view horrors of the holocaust or any other horrific images varies from child to child.

Then on what basis can you accuse Granny of child abuse? Have you talked to her kids? Do you even know how old they are? If the standard differs from child to child, what other reason could you have had to accuse Granny of child abuse if not for your politics?

I think pornography is inappropriate, and gratuitous violence, profanity, photos of Phyllis Diller, a whole bunch of stuff is inappropriate. But none of that has been discussed here has it?

I don't think Christ was referring to the quality of a child's scholastic education. In fact, I think that using Christ's words in such a manner is a perversion of scripture.

As Christ said, what does it profit them? </font>[/QUOTE]Apparently you think that sending a child to a school run by a synogogue causes them to gain the world but also lose their immortal soul. . .

I think that it gains them a good understanding of reading, writing, and arithmetic. [IMG]

Then explain why some of the strongest Christians come out of parachurch organizations situated on the campuses of secular universitities, military bases and areas of the world where Christians are persecuted. It is adversity that makes a person strong not just intellectual education. Some of the weakest Christians I met were in the churches I pastored where the people were surrounded by Christians all time.
