    WARNING:
BigBaptist Only wants IFBs... the UFO types of IFBs...
    Here read their rules....
    http://www.bigbaptist.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=52&Itemid=111

No other translation besides KJV, no CCM talk, and apparently they spy on PMs.. because you are not even allowed to post anything in a PM referring to modern music.

I posted my opinion, and they deleted my account.
Oh well.. don't want to be associated with legalists anyway.
I just wanted to let everyone that is here, that I added as a friend, know why I am not there.

They brag that it is going to be the biggest fellowship hall for Baptists.. .they should have let everyone know it is just for IFBs...
One reason they said that they must make the rules to just be KJVO, and no CCM was the IFBs were complaining...

Surprise, surprise... an IFB complaining about other Baptists...

Here is a post from there...

Re:Big Baptist Rules 2007/08/17 15:35 Karma: 0 I've had some say that they wanted to invite their friends (new converts or young people), but were afraid of what would rub off on them if everyone was in here promoting Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, etc. I had people listing their favorite songs as Rock music, etc.

So apparently they want to cater to UFOs...
Sorry, for a site that had so much potential, you just blew it BigBaptist.

Also what is up with this in the terms and conditions:

Fees. You acknowledge that BigBaptist.com reserves the right to charge for the Big Baptist Services and to change its fees from time to time in its discretion. If BigBaptist.com terminates your Membership because you have breached the Agreement, you shall not be entitled to the refund of any unused portion of subscription fees.

I guess you were not upfront when you came here...

People watch out, you may be charged for this service...
And seeing this, that means this thread is nothing but an advertisement for your website to make money...

That's pretty funny...cuz I was thinking they weren't UFO enough. It's kind of odd to be opposed to CCM but in favor of thrash metal and killing humans in video games.

This is kind of cute too...

"Big Baptist will not be used to promote, in any way, worldly media (this includes music, television, movies, reading material, etc.)."

...yet their front page contains a picture of three young women posing as Charlie's Angels.

I have no problem with the fee clause for future use however, promoting one message board on another message board seems like bad form.

I guess it will be important for BigBaptist to strategize what it is they really want BigBaptist to be and then market their strategy accordingly so folks aren't disappointed when it winds up being something that did not meet their expectations.

OH Boy... I agree with you again...
You nailed exactly what I am feeling in your last paragraph...
They should have thought stuff out better.. and marketed it better...
Not every Baptist is IFB... So if you are advertising to get Baptists, and you only want IFBs, you should say so...

It may bring more IFBs to them...

BTW, I noticed the charlie Angels pose too... and thought that was funny...(strange)

I am not mad.... I am disappointed that I was mislead into thinking this would be a site similar to myspace without the junk on myspace.

And to think I sent out a bunch of invitations yesterday! I was going for the $100 reward! Oh well.. I just emailed my friends and gave them the link to the rules before they joined....

The rules should have been there all along, not wait until they get their 100 members and then decide to give us the rules... That is just dishonest.

No kidding. I just PM'd the admin and asked him to delete my profile. I refuse to be a part of an organization or site that is exclusively KJVO. A place like BB where there is a mixture can be ok, but I cannot in good conscience appear to give any support to the KJVO position.

By the time all of us non-KJVOs leave, they will need to find more to make up their first 100!

I did find it odd that the forum was almost a carbon copy of BBs!

Well they know something good when they see it...

Again, Baptistboard has proven to be the best place on the net for Baptists...

Yes we may disagree sometimes, but at least we don't get offended that there are other types of Baptists than IFBs...

I go out of town for a couple of days, and look what happens!

Oh, well, I'm leaving again shortly, so maybe when I get back in a couple of days, they'll have it straightened out.

    Or made worse.

    We'll see.

    To Tiny Tim,
Your account was not removed because you posted your opinion, it was removed because you said that you you wanted it removed and would be warning your friends to stay away. I was just honoring your request.

    To Rufus1611,
I had no idea that the girls were imitating Charlies Angels. I've never seen it. I will be changing that picture. Also, I removed the game with the heavy metal music. The games were downloaded from a site that was supposed to be "family friendly." I did not have time to check them all. I have left some that don't quite fit your bill, like the giant magnifying glass, but I definitley don't promote heavy metal music.

Concerning the rules change. When I posted them, I said that they would be changing as the site evolves. Call me nieve, but I thought when I began the site that Baptists would only post modest pictures, Gospel music, etc. When I started seeing what some people were posting in their profiles, I realized that I had to set some standards. I may have carried it too far, but I did ask for opinions from users concerning the rules. Rather than offer suggestions, everyone just starting blasting me or trashing the site. I do apologize if any of you felt deceived. That was not my intention.

Thank you for your adjustments and hearing our views. I apologize if I discouraged you in anyway and I probably should've approached it in a more suggestive than critical manner. May God bless your efforts.

    Hi Rufus1611,
No harm done. Great peace have they which love thy law, and nothing shall offend them.

    To all,
There is no way we can have the foresight to cover all of the bases on a site that is barely two weeks old. It will continue to adjust and evolve as we find out what works and doesn't. That does not mean we are deceptive.
I am yet to see a site that doesn't change as it grows.

    What does UFO stand for?

(Other than "unidentified flying objects" or course. I saw it used in a different way on this thread)

It's Tiny's acronym for folks who are more fundamental than he is ;)

Some folks have trouble recognizing them when they see them. All they remember is the bright light...
