I guess I failed miserably to get the type of data and comments that I needed for my book (in a different post on sin).

So, I'll start over... I'll go sin by sin, to get your comments and most importantly, the numbers from a poll. Your answers are needed, and your participation in the poll is essential if I'm going to get the kind of data I need to draw conclusions from for my book.

Again, if you comment, please let me know if it's OK to use your comment. Your name will not be used in any way.

    THANKS!!!

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:

I have always believed abortion to be legalized murder, but what about very young girls who are raped and impregnated? What about when the pregnant girl or woman will die if she carries the baby to full term? Whose life is more important, that unborn baby, or your wife, girlfriend, daughter, sister, or whoever whose life is in danger?

Sometimes, a choice does have to be made on who lives and who dies. If we believe that abortion is murder, do we sacrifice our loved one to save the baby? How many are willing to make that sacrifice? I know I'll be criticized for my reply, I always am.

I to feel that it is legalized murder, that would be a very hard choice to have to make, I pray I never have to.

Well the question is, do we believe in a sovereign God in heaven or not?

Should a child be punished for the crime of his father?

The question to ask is "When does an egg&sperm become a person?

If upon conception - then the deliberate ending of that life is nothing but short of murder - period.

Okay, some will say before 6 months - because a baby could not survive if delivered any sooner. Ok, than after a full term baby is born - leave it alone for 2 weeks - and it should be able to survive by itself. We would then proceed with murder charges against the mom.

Some will say an abortion is okay up till 30 days before scheduled delivery. I say - "Fine - in fact, lets allow abortion up till 30 days after birth!"

My overall statement is " I am pro-choice - I believe if a baby chooses abortion - I say go ahead and let him"

The ONLY case I believe that intervention is "acceptable" would be in the case of an ectopic pregnancy. The pregnancy is doomed - the child is doomed. However, we can save the mom if there is an intervention. It's a horrible choice but one that needs to be made.

    Otherwise, life wins.

I'm with you. What a heartbreaking reality to deal with.

What about if they will both die? That happens in some circumstances, though rare. Sometimes it's either one life or no lives.

Abortion for the sake of convenience is never acceptable and amounts to murder in my opinion. It deprives a person of life without just cause. Where is the mother's love? There are americans lined up to adopt. There is no excuse for this kind of wickedness.

Abortion in the case of rape or incest is no less wrong. It deprives a person of life without just cause. The child isn't the guilty party.

Abortion in the case of a malformed child is also wrong. It deprives a person of life without just cause. Some justify it out of pity. I disagree; life is a good thing. I know it is a hard thing to deal with but who has a right to choose death for such a one?

Abortion in the case of immediate and grave danger to the mother has been traditionally accepted in conservative societies. These days I think you would find very few of these cases. Abortion is also dangerous. I suspect that many mothers have been willing to give their own lives to save their child. God bless those women who have that kind of love!

I agree exactly with annsni about tubal pregnancies. Thank goodness that today women can find out about these rare pregnancies very, very early. They don't have to die anymore.

I also used to believe that pregnancy in the case of rape and incest could be terminated. Rape and incest are such ugly things that women carry in their souls to some degree for the rest of their lives. And I can only imagine it is a difficult and nightmarish thing to carry the baby of your rapist for 9 months.

But I have changed my mind as I grow older. She doesn't have to keep the baby. The mother will be punished for the sins of the father for having to carry the baby of a rapist, but the unborn child should not be punished.

Also, in this case, if a woman chose NOT to keep a baby or if this were a 10-year-old girl raped by a grandfather and her parents terminated the pregnancy - I would be very sad for many reasons, but I would not judge.

Most importantly, I believe that none of us would know for 100% certain what we would do if we had a 10-year-old daughter who was raped.

It's easy to talk about abortion from an ivory tower of righteousness. But we need to be careful that we don't speak from self-righteousness.

The only judgment to be concerned about is that of the decision of the Lord - the ultimate judge

Which means what, let Him decide who lives and who dies between the girl/woman or the unborn baby? I guess that takes the decision out of the husband's or father's hands.
