and why does it have to be Calvinists that have to be "kinder" ? Does this imply that all others outside the realm and pale of Calvinism are kind, considerate, brotherly and tender ?

What is being missed here is that the two articles I posted are written by reformed folks.

    *retching sounds* Oh, puke!

For one thing, I don't think there is a Calvinist here who wouldn't give his neighbor the shirt off his back if he were down on his luck, but to be anything less than severe when dealing with corrupt dogma is to do violence to the truth.

Yes, Calvinists themselves have even coined a technical term for it: the Cage Stage.

But as we can see, for some it's not just a phase, it's chronic.

I do not believe I have ever called Calvinism a corrupt doctrine ... interesting term ... what do you mean by that term?

I have said that Calvinist have convinced me they are incorrect in various areas and I have said that part of the Calvinist doctrine can be traced directly back to Gnosticism. But, corrupt, don't believe that term has ever entered my mind until your post.

I think I got the term from one on your side. Did that term hurt your feelings in any way? Personally, I couldnt care less....but I wouldn't want you stressing out in any way, shape or form. See I want to be a kinder & gentler Calvinist so your kind isn't so torqued off all the time. So with that said....have a nice & pleasant day:love2::flower:

In the fundamentalist circles I came up through, people used to use the nicest words to describe Calvinists - words like heretic, blasphemer, apostate, etc. And when I became one, they used words like "resign", "silence", "shame", and "unbeliever" to me. So when I left that bunch (or rather, was expelled), I gave it back to them with the full force they gave it to me. Hence the "cage stage".

Should I rise above all that? Yes. But I will not be ashamed of my convictions nor will I cease from defending the truth.

Never heard of Cage Stage until your mention.

Uncanny, but it describes my early Calvinist days perfectly. I'm older, kinder and gentler today.

I've never been in the Cage Stage. I seldom begin a thread on Calvinism. In fact, I don't remember ever beginning one. I usually just respond to the cavils of noncalvinists, and that only of late.

Tom, LOL you could of used the same argument about my brother who came out of school & gets a job as a Ute Pastor for an IFB Dispy Arminian Church....that guy was a pain in the neck, argumentative, snooty & cock sure of himself. Even his head pastor told me candidly they go thru a phase. Today he is away from that nonsense & believes in DoG & Election. At least Tom, our side admits it openly.
