    GRAB YOUR BIBLES 1 Peter 5:5-8
    ===============
    Today my message is going to be about....the importance of humility:
    Therefore it also going to be about.....the danger of pride!
    ------------------------
    Qt Pro.16:18 “Pride [goeth] before destruction.....”
    ===============
    LETS READ THE TEXT 1 Peter 5:5-8
    ===============

    ===============
    V.5A “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder.”
    -AN INSTRUCTION....FOR YOUNGER PREACHERS-
    (That requires them to be humble:)
    Submitting themselves before others:
    ------------------------
    This is a particular area...where young preachers:
    Are in danger;
    --------------------------------------------------
    Qt. 1 Timothy 3:6
    “Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride
    he fall into the condemnation of the devil.”

    ===============
    V.5B “Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another,”
    -THE SAME KIND OF HUMILITY....THAT WE ALL NEED-
    (Because it’s a danger...we never out grow:)
    Especially in times...when we are being blessed:
    --------------------------------------------------
    Times when we don’t think...we need the Lord!
    ===============
    V.5C “and be clothed with humility:”
    -THE ONLY WAY.....WE CAN TRULY BE HUMBLE-
    (By making humility...a part of our life:)
    ------------------------
    Daily putting on “humility”...like we put on our cloths!
    --------------------------------------------------
    -WORKING AT BEING HUMBLE....FROM BOTH SIDES-
    ➀ Always...being aware of our own pridefulness:
    ➁ And always...looking for ways to humble ourselves!
    ===============
    V.5D “for God resisteth the proud,”
    -SOMETHING THE LORD......TAKES VERY SERIOUSLY-
    (And responds to immediately:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    When we are acting or speaking pridefully:
    The LORD is actively resisting us!
    ===============
    V.5E “and giveth grace to the humble.”
    -THE BEST REASON IN THE WORLD...TO HUMBLE OURSELVES-
    (Because of how the Lord will respond to it:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    He will give us a supernatural ability:
    To overcome our adversaries!
    ===============
    V.6A “Humble yourselves therefore”
    -A JOB WE ALL HAVE....SET BEFORE US-
    (To allow ourselves to be humbled:)
    And then...to rejoice in it:
    ------------------------
    Rejoicing because..we understand what is happening:
    --------------------------------------------------
    -THE UNDERSTANDING NEEDED.....IN ORDER TO REJOICE-
    Understanding what humility...is doing in our heart:
    And how much good...being humbled is doing for us!
    ===============
    V.6B “under the mighty hand of God,”
    -WHO......WE ARE ULTIMATELY........HUMBLING OURSELVES BEFORE-
    (The LORD:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    Therefore....when we are prideful:
    We are sticking it in God’s face!
    ===============
    V.6C “that he may”
    -SOMETHING...OUR HUMILITY WILL ALLOW THE LORD TO DO-
    (Bless us:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    The Lord wants to be blessing us....all the time:
    But we can prevent Him....from doing it!
    ===============
    V.6D “exalt you in due time:”
    -THE FAITH.....THAT IS REQUIRED FOR US TO HUMBLE OURSELVES-
    (Believing that only God...can exalt us:)
    And that He will do it...in His timing:
    --------------------------------------------------
    Therefore we will patiently wait:
    For Him to exalt us!
    ===============
    V.7A “Casting all your care upon him;”
    -EXERCISING OUR FAITH.....AND TRUSTING THE LORD-
    (When we leave everything....in the Lord’s hands:)
    And stop trying to....lift ourselves up:
    --------------------------------------------------
    Lifting ourselves up....forces Him to humble us!
    ===============
    V.7B “for he careth for you.”
    -THE SECRET OF BEING ABLE....TO LEAVE THINGS IN GOD’S HANDS-
    (By truly believing:)
    That the Lord....wants the best for us:
    --------------------------------------------------
    This enables us...to put ourselves in His hands!
    ===============
    V.8A “Be sober,” Lit. (To Calm down:)
    -THE OTHER SIDE........OF BEING HUMBLE-
    (Keeping a handle on....the intoxication:)
    Of being used by the Lord:
    --------------------------------------------------
    When God exalts you...it’s tempting to be prideful!
    ===============
    V.8B “be vigilant;”
    -THE HIDDEN BLESSING.....OF BEING HUMBLE-
    (You realize....your own vulnerabilities:)
    And how real...life’s dangers are:
    --------------------------------------------------
    Note: Humility....opens our Spiritual eyes!
    ===============
    V.8C “because your adversary the devil,”
    -SOMEONE WHO WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE....OF OUR PRIDE-
    (The enemy of our soul:)
    The devil:
    --------------------------
    Satan will feed our pride...by arranging praise:
    At the wrong times!
    --------------------------------------------------
    Qt. Pro.29:5 “A man that flattereth his...”
    ===============
    V.8D “as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
    -PRIDE WILL MAKE US AN EASY PRAY....FOR THE ENEMY-
    (Who is always on the lookout:)
    For a prideful Christian:
    --------------------------------------------------
    Who is making himself a target!
    ===============

    Hi Stilllearning, one way to think about humility is that it is not something you do. It is something you allow to be done to you. If you turn the other cheek, you allow yourself to be hit again rather than demonstrate your strength and power. When we look at Jesus for our example, we see not what He did, but what He allowed to be done to Him. He did not remain in the form of God but took the form of a man. He did not assert His righteousness, but obediently followed the will of His Father. He went to His death, even death on a cross.

    God bless
