    Fight Leaves Democrats Questioning Prospects

    By JEFF ZELENY

The battle between Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama over whether Mr. Obama belittled voters in small towns appears to have hardened the views of both candidates’ supporters and stirred anxiety among many Democrats about the party’s prospects in the fall.

    Quote:
"...they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

While I do not, in anyway, support Obama I do believe that this is a media create issue. There are very important issues on the table in this election and this remarks by Obama are not among them.

To the contrary, his remarks were very revealing.

    Snob-ama Is Not Alone

    By Michelle Malkin
    CNSNews.com Commentary
    April 16, 2008

The odor of elitism is like onion breath: It's quick to acquire, hard to mask. Try as he might, Barack Obama cannot camouflage the political stink he exhaled when he dissed small-town Americans as "bitter" Neanderthals "clinging" to their guns, faith and belief in strict immigration enforcement. It wasn't the first time the effete Snob-ama revealed himself.

He also belitteled people who own guns and hold to "religion".

I thought Democrats were for the little people...

I have said for a long time now, both parties are corrupt, and are all about big money!

Democrats have never been for the little people.

They just use them to acquire power.

==To the contrary, the only thing his "remarks" reveal is that he is a big government liberal who thinks people need more government in their lives to be happy. That is not a news flash. I could have told you that six months ago! Let's get to the heart of the matter (ie...his view of government) and stop worrying about this media driven dribble. I am sorry that his comments offended so many people. The fact that people are offended by his statement is so very post-modern of everyone, Oprah must be proud. However I am not. We need to be concerned about his view of government. Not whether or not his statements were "offensive" or "belitteling" to anyone.

So why didn't you tell us 6 months ago that he was such an elitist snob? He's been doing pretty good at hiding it.

    Just overlooked it?
    Didn't think it mattered?
    Thought it would go away?
    Didn't think at all?

Carpo, the media is working their usual charms for Obama...

They have people focusing on this, while ignoring the heart of his atrocious philosophies....

While I can't stand Obama, I think Martin is right...

The issues alone are enough to not vote for him.

==I did not say he was an "elitist snob", I said he was a big government liberal. And he has not been hiding that fact. If people would "listen" instead of "feel" they would know that.

I agree with both, to a point. Martin is right that we are looking for a monster in the woods, when there's a snake at our feet. If we can look at his voting record, and the things he has said he will do, we have enough to not support him.

Carpro is right that his comments are part of a bigger problem for him. They reveal a disdain for the common man.

B.O.'s comments reminds one of John Kerry's insinuations about the intelligence of those who choose to go into the military.

    Stinking elitist !

That's why he wanted the people be-littled.

We don't have much else to focus on yet.

On most issues, he has taken no stand.

His campaign has been all smoke and mirrors with plenty of platitudes thrown in.

We have to watch for his Freudian slips to get a real sense of the man.

Yes, he's a "big government liberal". He couldn't hide it and I've been saying so for months.

Now we know he is an elitest snob as well.

It's all part of the package. He may be my next president. I want to know more about him than just his public politics.

    Don't you?

==Actually we don't "know" that. You are against Obama so you are jumping to that conclusion (as is the media). However his comments can be taken in several ways. When I first heard the comment elitest was not what came to my mind. What came to my mind when I first heard his statement was that his statement reflected his belief in big government. I don't think Obama is "an elitest snob", I think he is a liberal who truly believes that people need government in their lives to be happy.

==All I need to know are his beliefs (etc) and those are enough to cause me to oppose his campaign. I don't play "gotcha" politics, nor do I fall for the dribble that falls out of the mouths of the people on FOX News, MSNBC, or CNN. I don't need those talking heads to tell me what to think. What I think is that the issues are important. What I think is that Obama's positions on the issues are important. What I think is that Obama's positions on the issues are very different from my positions. What I think is that I will not be voting for Obama. All this "elitest" stuff is media driven. It is not important, it is not real, and we should ignore it.
