Thanks for the links! I've always got "bad feelings" about the guy and his cohorts. Definitely a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Oh I don't want to knock anyone down... God knows my motives and it's not to harm anyone. I simply figure that people need to see this since the scriptures forwarned us of these things. Please people don't think that I'm careless... God may very well save this man... After all, He is able!!!

Another good reason for posting this is that it should built your faith since as I said, it was prophecied a long time ago that these man would do these things and of course voila - there they are!

Dear Jesus, I believe that you don't want to see anyone go to hell and if you are going to save Benny Hinn please see to it that your people forgive him. Lord, if you forgive him we would be more then happy to follow you. Help us to be wise and forgive us our wrongs. Have mercy on your people! If anyone needs you it's us.

    Thank you Jesus...

Peace to everyone who loves The Lord.
    He is good!

Since this thread is about a "pastor" from another denomination (non-Baptist) it really does not belong in the General Baptist Discussion Forum either. Therefore, I am moving it into the Other Christian Denominations Forum.

    Benny Hinn a Pastor?????

I think it is a massive Slap in the Face to all the legitimate, called Pastors, to lump this Snake Oil Salesman in with them.:tear:

Shouldn't this have been switched to the "Jokes & Humor" thread instead of putting it into "Pastoral Ministries?"

The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. - 1 Corinthians 2:15

There is nothing wrong with naming false teachers and warning other Christians of the harm that they do. For instance, from the Bible it is clear that the Apostles Paul and John had no problem whatsoever in naming names of false brethren.

I think his name is Ernest Angley, and he fills his church in Akron. Then there was another bloke out of Akron,,he even operated a girdle factory to back up his ministry. The other chap in the deep south was exposed whilst he visited the local hookers...He wept on stage, confessed his sin and carried on preaching. He fills his church as well....Jimmy Swaggart.

Is there no end of these blokes?

When Oral Roberts came to Canada many, many years ago, he had the chairs in Massey Hall wired so that he could inject an "electronic" charge so the people could "feel" the spirit in the meeting. No kidding. It was big news in the local Toronto newspapers in those days..seems it was the early fifties.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I thought those were for the sleepers in the crowd. You know how bad it looks on TV when half the congregation is sleep?

    Leroy Jenkins

Anyone ever hear of Leroy Jenkins out of Delaware, Ohio? Had a mansion, gaited, and the whole bit. I think he ended up in prison for putting a hit out on someone or something. Can't remember exactly what it was, but I remember driving by his mansion.

I believe Swaggart does not fill his church. He hangs curtains around the front part of the church to make it appear filled. About 5 years ago, I drove by there while traveling through Baton Rouge on a Sunday morning. His huge parking lot was less than 10% full.

The problem is how can we explain all these phenomena (tongues, slain by the spirit) if they are not from God?
I have watched a person being slain and it looked very real to me. It wasn't emotional or something like that. And the person which did this made a pretty decent impression on me, he wasn't a charismatic and his teachings were also pretty sound.
Now if being slain by the spirit is not from God then it can only be from Satan. But why should God allow so many charismatics and pentecostals to be deceived? And how is this supposed to work? If a christians lays hands on another christian and this person is slain but not from the Holy Spirit then what happens in this moment? How do you explain the person being slain?
This is all so confusing and the charismatics threaten others that they are blaspheming the holy spirit if they deny these phenomena, it's like a walk on a tight rope.

But on the other hand I have heard christians which reported of happenings where they said the Holy Spirit was moving where they used the term "holy chaos". People are flying through the air and landing on the floor and even hurting themselves, others are dancing on the tables and singing and others are weeping. Does this fit to God? Would God create chaos and would the Holy Spirit make a person fly through the air and then even get hurt during the "landing"?
I really don't know what to think anymore, this whole confusion turns me off big time, I'm really becoming so sick of all this christians stuff that I ask myself why do I even spend time asking myself wether tongues and slain by the spirit are real or not, I will most likely never find out about it. But this makes me become so sceptical of everything that most likely I'm not even able to accept anything as from God because I could always think maybe it's not from God.
This sucks. How can you even be a christian in these times and still be in the know? :(
Why should God allow christians to be on the one hand used by him and at the same time deceived by Satan? If God is using a christian then how can this christian at the same time be doing things which are not from God like speaking in tongues? This doesn't make any sense. Or if God is present in a congregation then how can he allow light and darkness to be present at the same time? How can God be present and at the same time demonic things are going on for example people acting weird? Does this mean that God is not present in such churches at all and that all these people also aren't christians or what does this mean?

Leroy Jenkins was from Greenwood, SC. He conspired to murder a SC Highway Patrolman for which he served time. At the height of his infamy, he was buying up all the houses on the street where he was born and grew up to preserve and create a monument to him. After his release from prison, he returned to TV and gave the impression of huge crusades by keeping the camera in a narrow view as he performed and inserting old clips of large crowds. He only had a handful of followers afterwards.

One of my favorite rogues is Jim Whitington of Greenville, NC. He says, "God wants me to be rich and happy." He divorced his wife and remarried a younger gal who masquerades as a model. Jim has a big executive mansion, a Rolls, a Mercedes, a couple of speed boats, and a motorcoach. His largest speed boat, built by tunnel boat racer Jim Fountain of Washington, NC, will cruise at a 100 and will blow away anything on the Pamilco. Whitington said, “I want people to hear my thunder and know it’s me coming down the river.” He ran for mayor of Greenville, NC and lost. Also, he was indicted for embezzling funds from an elderly lady.

Ernest Angley is an interesting rascal too. Dr. Monroe Parker told me a story about when he was preaching at a church in Akron, OH. The pastor told Dr. Parker that he wanted to show him something interesting. He took Dr. Parker to Angley’s Grace Cathedral and insisted that they go inside. While the pastor was showing Dr. Parker around, Ernest heard that Dr. Monroe Parker was in the building and wanted to meet him. Being a gracious man, Dr. Parker consented. Angley lisped to Dr. Parker, who played football in college and could press 150 lbs. one-handed: “You know, Dr. Parker, I think a minister ought to be a real man.” Angley, of course, comes across as a big sissy.

Another Ernest Angley story is about a rather large black woman who was supposedly healed of deafness in one of his crusades. To demonstrate that she could hear, Angley asked her to repeat some words after him.
    Angley: “Say Jesussssssssss!”

    Woman: “Jesus”

    Angley: “Amen! Hallelujah! Say Jesussssssssssss”

    Woman: “Jesus”

Angley: “Hallelujah! See there folks; she is healed! Now, say babyyyyyy!”

    Woman: “Jesus”

    Hi xdisciplex,

In time you'll learn how to discern true acts of God but until then simply be careful since many deceivers have gone out into the world. Watch out for people who talk about money and those who come across as knowing everthing. These deceivers will go into great details about false experiences and in their greed will try to exploit you. It's all about money to them!

I suspect that in the end they'll have all the money they want - in HELL!

I think that would be Rex Humbard, whose church was called, as I recall, Baptist Temple. I worked in Akron for a few months back in 1958 when I was an engineering student. Folks there called him "Rex Humbug".

In my Baptist Polity classes, which our American Baptist students must take in order to be credentialed in the ABCUSA, I often comment that Baptists generally will ordain anything that can walk and talk. Sad that we have charlatans around like this. But then so does the medical profession, the legal profession, etc.

And don't let me even start on politicians!

    Sin is REAL!!
