Were this my cat (and I love cats and have about 20, currently), it would not have done this but once. First, it would have been neutered, already so this would not have been as much of an issue, to begin with. Oh yeah! And it would not have any worries about being left at a shelter, either. Need I say more?

I had one scratch my arm to pieces last summer.
When we were moving to our new pastorate, I was trying to catch one of our cats.. it was an outside cat, and it didn't want to be caught...
When I did, it layed into me.... scratched my right arm about 7 times..Big deep scratches... blood was flying, but I caught it... it took all I had in me to not wring it's neck... but ... I didn't... there were witnesses!! (seriously, little kids around watching, and I could just imagine their nightmares after seeing me kill a cat!!)
I just held on to that lil demon and put it in it's cage. When we got to the new parsonage, I let it out of the cage, It ran over the hill, and I haven't seen it since!!! (There are coyotes around here.. hehehe...) No love lost!!! I still have scars from that demon.

BTW, can you tell I am a dog lover. Cats are too weird.

It would have been a handbag if it were mine.

Our last cat went insane. It began hissing and attacking anyone near it, and seemed to be on the prowl to get our son (3 years old). One night, he was playing on the kitchen floor and the cat made its move. She came flying across the living room, into the kitchen, and latched on to his face. My wife broke it up in a second but he had about two dozen scratches on one side of his face and three deep puncture bite wounds on the the other. The next day his face swelled up so bad we rushed to the doctor. Apparently cat bites can be very serious due to all the bacteria they carry. Well, our son was fine after a round of antibiotics and he actually loves and misses the cat. The cat was put down.

The OP story is gruesome, and truly CATastrophic.
