What is the best site for MP3 downloads? I noticed that Amazon has raised their price up to $1.29 for most songs. Is that the going rate out there?

That seems to be the going rate. iTunes also charges $1.29, although many songs are closer to the $.99 range. SItes like Walmart are a little less.

A buck or so seems to be a fair price for purchasing another person's music.

iTunes is in many ways the best as far as ease of use and the nicest software etc.
Now that they are getting rid of DRM it is even better.
Most of my iTunes purchased songs now will play on my Nokia cell phone as well as my iPod since it supports the AAC codec.

I have used Amazon as well and they are ok but the use the Mp3 format which I don't like as well, The file sizes are larger.

The best news though is the fact that DRM is going away and no one is stuck with a single store.

Itunes has a lot for 1.29 now but a lot are still 99¢ I think they also have some that are 79¢ as well.
I think new releases tend to be higher.
