    Hello Anne,
What bothers me about threads like this is regardless of whether it is about a book store or not, the post comes with Billy Graham's name attached to it. We all realize he is not perfect, but compared to me for sure, and I am going to guess most others in this forum, how does what I have done for the Lord compare to what Billy Graham has done? That is why I do not like to criticize others the Lord has used.

I agree totally with your posts, and did not know you knew his daughter.

I know it's a typo. Still funny, though.

I agree but we DO need to be discerning with other believers and call to their attention error when needed. However, we need to be sure we have all the facts before blaming a brother or sister for something that might actually be out of their control.

Yes, I know his daughter a little bit. She spoke at our church in January and the woman who normally coordinates everything and works with the speaker was ill so I filled in for her. I ended up spending some wonderful time with Anne and her husband - who's father was our former minister. Dan grew up in our town, went to our high school and so we had a great time listening to the stories of old Northport. Anne is an absolute sweet Southern Belle and was so gracious. In speaking about her dad, she was quite encouraging to us but it does seem like his health is worse that we even thought. So I highly doubt he would have anything to do with the nitty gritty of this sort of thing, you know?

I made a request that this thread not be about Billy Graham so I'm going to have to ask the mods to close it if people keep bringing him up. If you want to discuss him, please start another thread!!!

Some of you are changing the topic. I said clearly this is not about Graham.

Maybe that means you have to be on LSD to believe LDS doctrine.

For some years now, I've been saying that one of the most dangerous things a Christian can do is to walk into a Christian bookstore. Any of them. Especially a young Christian, but it's also true for the veteran believer. It's a telling sign of the times and age we live in. To come out unscathed often requires very sharp discernment skills, which only a small percentage of believers seem to possess these days.

We should appreciate all warnings from fellow believers. No doubt Billy Graham has no personal knowledge of everything in his bookstores, and in all likelihood has never had much to do with it. But as far as material like an SDA bible being associated with the name of Billy Graham, that is not surprising, since Graham has been on the ecumenical trail for many years now.

Yes, as hard as it is to believe sometimes, we have to be careful and discerning ... even with all things Billy Graham.

I was in Sunday School this morning at an SBC congregation and looking through the Lifeway (SBC) SS book that was handed out to me (Explore the Bible Spring 2010). Right in the center of the book (pg 58) in the "Quotable" section is a nice quote by G.K. Chesterton; they list him as "British writer, Christian apologist" when in fact he was a Roman Catholic convert from Anglicanism. Point being is that there is a lot of overlap within Christianity and no matter how hard walls are put up to keep out the selected undesirables they will still slip through.

I simply find these kinds of experiences ironic~at least it wasn't an Osteen quote...:tongue3:

That's a good point. The human element is real and understandable.

Also, IMHO, all error is not equally harmful to the body-at-large. Error is error, and is always dangerous and bothersome. But a G.K.Chesterton, or a Brother Lawrence, doesn't bother me near as much as a Copeland, an Osteen, or a Warren, for example.

This is very sad. Thanks for letting us know, and also what you posted on the Osteen books.

I think the bottom line with most Christian bookstores (and radio stations) is the dollar, not the gospel.

I'm glad you wrote. I doubt we will here. I am too busy to call right now.

I do want to say that I have called an online store twice about some of their books (which included New Age books) and they did remove them.
