While doing some research on the net, I discovered a few sites that made the bold claim that Billy Graham is a Freemason. Any truth to this?

    Hi Jude
    Never heard that but i did here on CNN that he did tell tricky Dick Nixon that they needed to get the Jews out of the newspaper business because they were....Well, dont remember exactly what was said so i wont quote. But it was very anti semetic.

    Just a quick websearch seems to indicate that the Billy Graham Evengelical Association denies it. There is some evidence that it is rooted in anti-catholicism and Billy's cordial attitude toward the Pope from looking at a couple of the websites. The usual, he is cooperating with the Pope and the Pope is the anti-christ crud. I will look at more later. But he wouldn't be the first Baptist leader to be a Mason or a member of the KKK for that mater.

    Blessings

    According to EWTN's Dr. Carroll - Billy Graham would be "burned at the stake by the Catholic Church" if he taught in the dark ages - the same things then as he did in the past century.

    What a "Confession" about the "real" meaning of "Exterminate" as promoted in Lateran IV.

    In Christ,

    Bob

    That's right, all Catholic priests are saints. :rolleyes: You know, often you are no better than the ones you complain so much about.

    </font>
It was inappropriate for him to bring the "KKK" aspect into the argument. It was also inappropriate for you to speak of his personal character publically. :(

    Man, we treat each other pretty badly in here (self included).

    Why? Isn't he hard on Bob and others? Isn't your comment about Bob indirectly speaking of his personal character? If it is true, it is not wrong. If I am lying about him, then I am wrong. But he complains and puts down others all the time, yet he does the same thing. I am just tired of it all the time.

    </font>
Neal, I realize that I just did it to Bob, which is why I said that and included myself. And it doesn't matter if it is true or not; Bearing false witness does not mean we simply don't lie, we should also lift up our neighbor and only speak good of them. I'm plenty guilty of it. I'm just trying to make us aware of that.

    So now bearing true witness is included in false witness? How confusing! I am sorry, but I do not see hindering the truth as a necessary duty required from the ninth commandment. The loving thing to do is to speak the truth, not hide it.

    </font>
Hindering the truth is not the same thing as attacking someone's character. Their character may be rotten, but we should look for the good in them. That's just common sense. We can tell the truth and still not make "you're as bad as" statements, or even be cynical.

    This is off topic, so it can end. But I'm very sad I'm even arguing this with you.

    </font>
Neal,

    You love so much to point the finger at Catholics. Don't you realize that it shows your own bias to keep siding with Protestants against us on every occassion. :rolleyes: Protestants attach Catholicism day in and day out and I make one little remark and your all over it. You have never to my knowledge criticised Bob or DHK or any other protestant on this board for their behavior. But when a Catholic makes a remark you are all over them. Where did I say all Catholic priests were saints. I in fact would say quite the opposite. By the way, your complaining about me, after bearing false witness and maligning my character in a bravadorian sort of way on another thread. Then neglecting to apologize later for making assumptions as to why I wasn't answering your question that were totally false. Seems I am not the only one who could pin a hypocrit medal on my chest. I've lost a great amount of respect for you in recent weeks.

    Blessings though.

    PS - my quiptic comment was a reaction to the baptist sites that I ran in to in my web analysis of the matter at hand. If there is anything false or misleading in the statement that there are or have been other Baptists as members of the KKK or Masons I will gladly retract it. I think there are and have been Catholic priests who have been a part of the masons, though not likely the KKK.

    Actually it was the other way around It was Nixon who told Graham this. Graham just made the mistake of nodding politely, making it appear that he approved of Nixon's statement.

    This was in all of the papers and a big stink was made over nothing. Graham decided to roll over for the lib's.

    More or less the same as Trent Lott. Cornered by a liberal lynch mob, he apologized for nothing.

    In Trent Lott's case, it was cowardice but in Graham's case, I think it was the right thing to do because there was more at stake there.

    Here is a hint: look at the whole picture. And if you have not seen me correct others before, then you haven't read much around here. Weren't you just talking to me about assumptions (when you never did post an answer, so not much in the way of assuming)? However, I have posted open defenses to half truths or untruths that Protestants have made before. Good try, but you are wrong. Ask Grant if you like.

    Sorry you have "lost respect." I suspect that is because I used to never call into question you methods and information you posted, and now that I do, you don't like it. This is not about "Catholics," Thessalonian, it is about you. I couldn't care less whether you are Catholic, Protestant, SDA, Mormon, Muslim, or whatever. You are upset because I have made some observations and investigated some of the information offered here. Sorry if that offends you, but I am zealous that the truth be spoken.

    Grant,

    No one is "attacking" Thessalonian's character. I made an observation. Do you allow someone to keep doing what is wrong just so you don't "attack" their character by pointing it out? Why does someone get a free pass to inflate numbers and make passing comments that the same person would complain about when others do it? I simply don't understand.

    In Christ,
    Neal

    Me too, since I was accused of bearing false witness for making a true observation. I have never heard of that one before.

    Neal, my brother, I do apologize. When you said "than the ones you complain about," I thought you were referring to those people who are masons or KKK members. In responding to this, I realized that (at least I think) you were referring to Baptists attacking Catholics. If that latter interpretation is correct, my apologies.

    That was exactly what I was referring to. I would not be so mean to accuse Thessalonian of being a mason or a KKK member. My apologies if that is the way it appears, that is NOT what I meant whatsoever. I simply was observing that Thessalonian (and others, including me) do not like it when Baptists (and others) attack Catholics, yet he turns around and makes the same useless associations that Baptists (and others) do. It is hard for the discussion to ever move forward when we play the group association game. That is all.

    </font>
I actually if you will look at my post defended Billy Graham and doudt that he is a Mason, though it looks as though some in his organization may be from what I can tell. There stand on Masonery also appears to be a little weak. As for attacks, the character assisination you did of me when you didn't get a quick answer to your stupid question of how many books of James White's and others I had read makes as much of a hypocrit out of you as anybody. And of course you wouldn't acknowledge my reason for why the answer was not forthcoming (I thought I had posted the answer but it is not anywhere to be found on the board) was not acknowledged. Essentially calling me a liar. So stop with the moral superiority crap. I don't buy it.

    Blessings though
