I pray God blesses us by ending Robinson's wicked ministry.

This prayer could be to any God, except mine.

It is without doubt to any God but the one, true and living God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Heavenly Father who sent His Son to pay the wage for our wicked sins much like the one praying in the op.

Very biased, agenda driven, but nice sounding speech.

In other words, political drivel like all the rest of this week.

However, since it is couched under the guise of a "prayer," it constitutes taking the name of God in vain.

He should try the sinners' prayer. It's the only one he could utter that has a chance of being heard, IMO.

Oh no...not just your opinion but fact:

Isa 59:2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.

    It's a prayer, used as a speech.

Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Is that any different than lost people asking God to bless America?

I don't think it is a prayer - just couched that way.

Politicians always "use" God when it is convenient.

No different at all. But this IS a prayer. He speaks to some God, in the first sentence, and ends it like a prayer.

I understand, but people pray political and sports 'prayers' all the time.

People try to use God for their ends all the time.

He already has - this was not part of the actual inauguration, but one of the many side events.

I truly don't know who the god of many understandings is because I believe God has one understanding which is His Will and any other understanding would be a misunderstandings and are strictly on the part of man.

I'm guessing this statement is unfairly pointed at the opposer's of [email protected] marriage. I say unfairly because as a nation we have guaranteed non-bias on the basis of [email protected] orientation and many states have offered civil unions which would give them the same rights as a married couple but they won't be called a marriad.

When the [email protected]'s attacked the old lady with the sign, they didn't seem all that vulnerable that day. They didn't seem vulnerable when they interrupted Church services, showed their power by boycotting businesses and marched down the streets of this nation by the thousands. Thinking of this shows me the importance of the NON-VIOLENCE in the civil rights struggle. I cannot be an Army threating violence against you yet vulnerable when I ask you look at my position again. That would be a hypocrite.

In this prayer he continually managed to group the [email protected] cause for marriage with that of civil rights and refugee/immigrants who legally entered the nation. I think he really believes there is an equilibrium here that I don't see.

Here was my real question, what happens when a sinner prays for the Lord to make the world tolerant of my sin? I would think this Bishop would understand he first needs to ask God to be tolerant of his sin before he could expect a prayer like this to be answered. So this prayer is one where he has become comfortable with his sin so he pray's the Lord will make others as comfortable as he is.

Lord be merciful on me a sinner... Instead of Lord I'm glad I don't discriminate like those other people...

I would love to get close enough to this Biship to ask his interpretation of this passage of God's Word.

2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
    4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

I think O'bama would have been more in character if he had picked Robinson instead of Warren.
