But what really happened to Matthew Shepard?

He was beaten, tortured, and killed by one or both of the men now serving life sentences. But it turns out, according to Jiminez, that Shepard was a meth dealer himself and he was friends and s-x partners with the man who led in his killing. Indeed, his killer may have killed him because Shepard allegedly came into possession of a large amount of methamphetamine and refused to give it up.

The book also shows that Shepard’s killer was on a five-day meth binge at the time of the killing.

Yes, but that didn't fit the gay narrative.

These facts were literally buried by the media when they were given access to the police reports. When it was casually pointed out by a gay friend of Shepard's in an interview with KCWY-TV, an NBC affiliate, that Matthew was also practicing homosexuality, gay activists had descended on Laramie, Wyoming (as the chief prosecutor characterized it) "like locusts" followed by an equally frenzied descension of the media and anti-gay activists.

The media wanted the gay story, not the meth story. They could generate outrage about a hate crime. They could not generate outrage over a drug-related killing. After all, they had to justify the massive movement of equipment and personnel to a "two-bit hick western town" as one of them was once heard to describe Laramie, and meth dealers killing one of their own wouldn't cut it. The media, the prosecutors, law enforcement -- they all knew this from the beginning. But for reasons of personal aggrandizement, reputation, and ego, they all stuck to the "gay" story.

Now, even the liberal media is "revealing the new details" ...

What a load of malarkey!! They manufactured this story, and now that the killers are revealing the truth, it's "CYA, baby!" Great googly-moogly!
