Book on Assurance

    Hi All,
    Happy New Year! Here's my question. A friend of mine who is Roman Catholic got saved. (Praise The LORD!). He is really struggling with his assurance and security of his salvation. I believe the best way to help this man is to give him a book that addresses this situation (He loves to read). Can someone recommend a book that I could buy him to help him in this area. I love this man and want to help him the best I can, so I'm looking for an excellent book or article for him to read.
    BTW, we've talked to him about this, but I think a book will help him at this time.

    I'm not a scholar, I'm not ichthys either, I'm his wife. I find that when I need assurance of salvation, I find lots of comfort in the book of 1 John. I also use Tim LaHaye's How to Study The Bible for Yourself. It covers various needs like your friend and is a good way to study the bible.

    Since he likes to read you might also want to suggest:

    The Gospel According to Rome - by McCarthy.

    I am not familiar with any books, but someone gave me this awhile back and maybe it will help-

    John's Road to Assurance

    John 3:15,16,36
    " 5:24
    " 6:37,40
    " 10:27,28
    " 11:25,26
    " 14:1-6

    Memorizing some or all of those verses would help.

    Since RC is a 'works' salvation I find it is hard for many former RC to grab ahold of the concept of grace.

    I am a former Roman Catholic, and was saved 10 years ago. The book of Romans (especially Chapter 10) was so very reassuring to me regarding my salvation. Also, Ephesians 1 and 2.

    Early in my conversion, I found Billy Graham's book, "How to Be Born Again" very helpful and reassuring.

    When I came out of the Catholic Church, I struggled with the same things as your friend. Time in God's Word, prayer, and the encouragement and prayers of other believers were very precious to me at that time.
