Which gender do you believe is the aggressor more today in sexual promiscuity? Years ago I would have said boys, but now with the lax approach society has toward fornication and the messages being sent through various media outlets, I would say girls have either caught up or surpassed their counterpart.

Warning: This is not an attack on any gender, nor is it a matter of dominance or superiority. Rather an honest question to open discussion.

Warning given for the usual suspects.

It's neither. It's the onslaught of media interests that have further obscured morality in our society.

I don't think girls have surpassed...but perhaps they have "caught up"
As far as "media onslaught" it is a cycle....more dirty media content, more sin by individuals which leads to more demand for more dirty media content etc.

I think the crucial point is that no one is really the "aggressor" anymore. It's become such a casual thing that there's no need to be.

The answer is both and neither.

For how many centuries was it fine for men to have a mistress or visit a brothel, but women were looked upon as gross sinners for participating in the same sin? (Like ya'll can even have a brothel without a woman in sight! )

    Such a huge double standard!

In the past century the tide has changed. No longer are women allowing the double standard to continue or encouraging their girls to allow it. Some of this goes back to the other conversation (shudder), but in this way: if women are to be totally submissive to their men, then they aren't supposed to question where their men have been all night! (this is perhaps an unintended consequece of the type of submission some here declare is Biblical.

Have men become any less promiscuis? LOL! I don't think so. Have women become any more promiscuis? LOL! I don't think so. There is nothing new under the sun. Women just don't bother to hide what they are doing for fear of being discovered and labeled an adulteress.

What is really happening is that PARENTS are no longer encouraging either sex to stay pure until marriage. Has promiscuity doubled? You betcha! At least a century ago the women were trying to stay pure. (remember it takes to tango so when more women are willing, more men can find a partner thus sexual activity increases)

What has changed is attitude and information. No longer are women willing to take full responsibility for the sexual purity of both sexes. No longer do men or women care to keep their exploits to themselves.

I can only speak from my own experience in raising a son and having many nephews. The girls are extremely aggressive. My son had all but given up on dating because there are so few who are "good" girls. He has finally started dating a girl that has not slept with every guy she's ever dated. In fact, she's not slept with anyone. Not only are many aggressive sexually, but they are aggressive in other ways as well. Some are very controlling. Girls these days (as a whole) are totally different than girls in my teenage years.

Just my observation as a mom. :)

Scarlett, you'll make me blush!

Amy, I won't disagree with you. Girls are/can be agressive. But it's not that they weren't agressive in the past, just that they don't bother hiding thier agressiveness anymore. In the past women were well taught how to scheme and get their way without seeming to be agressive.

You better be prepared for this thread to be moved by a mod to either the Men's or Women's Private Froums. Check your sticky notes at the top of the fourm.
