    Breaking News . . .

Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary has just announced that the Law of God will no longer be referenced as the Ten Commandments. From this day forward, the Law of God will be known as the Nine Commandments. "In light of the Ergun Caner controversy, we just felt that it would be better to delete one of the commandments," Elmer Towns stated. "This will allow us to keep Ergun as our president." Where there is no law, there can be no sin. No sin, no problem.

I'm thinking this must just be an attempt to stir things up. This can't possibly be accurate.

    It's a parody!

It is based on Elmer Towns stating that Caner has not done anything immoral or unethical.

While it is humor, the point is to drive home the ridiculous comments and defense by those who state that Caner has done nothing wrong, or it is no big deal.

The only way it can be "no big deal" is if there are only nine commandments.

No, and I don't expect anything until the end of the month or early July.

I am not familiar with this book, but I am familiar with David Noel Freedman. He and William Foxwell Albright are the general editors of The Anchor Bible, a commentary series published by Doubleday beginning in the mid-1960's. I have been collecting this series as I have needed volumes for my SS lessons. They are self-described as a commentary for the general reader, but some of the volumes are very technical with extensive language analysis. They are expensive, but I am very happy with my decision to buy them. In addition to being one of the general editors, Freedman has also contributed the volumes on Hosea and Amos to the series.

I chuckled when I read the OP ;)

I was just writing about Caner and a similar event at Texas A&M yesterday though. A&M promptly fired their admin.

I forgot to include Caner's response:

    Breaking News . . .

Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary has just announced that the Law of God will no longer be referenced as the Ten Commandments. From this day forward, the Law of God will be known as the Nine Commandments. “In light of the Ergun Caner controversy, we just felt that it would be better to delete one of the commandments,” Elmer Towns stated. “This will allow us to keep Ergun as our president.” Where there is no law, there can be no sin. No sin, no problem.

Dr. Caner stated that he was relieved to have been found innocent of all wrong doing. "I always knew, deep down in my heart, that I had done nothing wrong, "Caner explained. "Now I can continue to tell my testimony with the full support of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary."

    Hi MC,

When the evidence is as sketchy as it is in Caner's case, it takes a lot longer to review. :)

I've not been following the controversy and know little about what is going on but your statements makes me want to ask, Which of the 10 commandments would you remove to remove the controversy?
