I have noticed recently a number of threads, or at least, sections of threads, which seem to boil down to slanging matches like those heard in school playgrounds. They could perhaps be paraphrased: "You said XXXXXXX." "Oh no I didn't!" "Oh yes you did!" "You're a liar!" "How dare you call me a liar!" "If you're going to say things like that, I won't be your friend any more!" and so on, and so on. Shouldn't we (I include myself) be making every effort to present a more loving (I don't mean soppy or sloppy) impression of what it means to be a Christian, remembering that our words (apart from those in private forums) are on show to anyone, whether or not they are are members of the BB, indeed, whether or not they are Christians? Of course we will have different views on a number of theological matters - eschatology, soteriology, origins, and bible translations are just a few that come to mind. There wouldn't be much point in having a board like this if we all had exactly the same views on everything. But surely it is possible to disagree with someone without becoming disagreeable.
