    Clint or anyone who knows,

How do I burn DVD's to work on my MP3 DVD player? they only work on the Computer. Do I have to install another program on my computer to change it from whatever form it comes in? I don't get why MP3 CD's work in my DVD player but the DVD's won't. What are the DVD's downloading as?

Hope you understand what I am asking.

Ok, a few questions for clarity's sake...

    1. Is this DVD/MP3 player a separate component? Or is it part of your computer?

    2. In either case, have you ever tried to play a store-bought DVD in it?

    3. Are you wishing to burn a file that you downloaded to make a DVD? Or are you trying to copy a movie from another DVD disc?

Normally when one speaks of burning, one is describing the process of copying files onto a disc. The files might be copied from the hard drive, from another disc, and perhaps even from the internet itself...I have not done the last of these three.

I deal only in MP3 so far...and I convert them to .wav files so that I can play them in my car's CD player. I have not tried to burn a DVD as there are rumors (LOL) that this cannot be done without special equipment, and I have neither had the need nor wanted to take a chance.

However, this gives me an idea for a new topic...

The DVD hooked up to my TV plays MP3 CDS. I can listen to my music I downloaded in MP3 form or regular CD. I play store bought DVD's a lot in it. It is also brand new. (couple of months old.)

When I download a movie and burn it to CD (NERO-BURNING Rom) It can only be watched on the computer. Nothing shows up on the TV.

I am not the only one who has this problem. There must be a program you have to have that converts it.

But if I can play CD's in MP3 form....then why not CD's From the download too?

It's all about file formats. The dvd player know what to do with a file has the extention of .mp3 but It may not know what to do with a file with an .avi extention (popular video format). Your users manual should tell you what formats it will play. Find that out then we can help you turn what you download into what the dvd player can understand.

More specifically, check to see if your DVD player can handle VCD. This is the most common method of 'burning' computer video in a format compatible with standalone DVD players. Most DVD players that can play MP3's can play VCD's. If you find out, let us know (my brother knows quite a bit about this so I can find out for you).

I've never burned a DVD CD before but have made audio CD's a lot. You have to do a "close forever" process to get them to play on audio CD players. Maybe you need to do something like that on your DVD?

Do you actually have a DVD burner? (DVD-R or DVD-RAM)

I can burn DVD's onto CD's. But they will only play on computers. Will Not play in the DVD player.

You can't actually make a DVD disc on a DVD-R unless you have a DVD-R/RW drive. If you just have a CD-R/RW drive, you can put some (compressed) DVD formats onto CD, but as you said, they'll only play on the computer.

If you do have a DVD-R/RW drive, you need DVD burning software such as Sonic MyDVD.

You say that you can play vcd's in your dvd player. You will need to convert your downloaded videos (avi format) to vcd format. After you do this your disk should play in your dvd plaver.

    Something like this program.
