if he can't do it no one CAN!!!

The nation, and the world will really miss Bush as the Obama team will be tested, and found to be even more unprepared to handle the REAL world than those who voted for Obama could have ever thought.

We need to pray and fast for Obama, because the security of this nation is on the shoulders of a man that reminds me of Jack Bauer's President Logan in Season 5 of 24.

There are those who say Bush has no legacy to speak of...I say his legacy will be more clear as Obama's term unveils itself to those who bet on "Change" they could believe in. They will get change, but, whether that change will be in the best interest of this nation as a whole is yet to be determined.

Let's pray for Obama like we've never interceded for a leader before. If Obama is to succeed, it will come via prayer by those in the background.:praying:

Blessings and peace to all of you......:praying:

We are praying for Obama, even now, even more than for President Bush, at all our Bible studies, and services.... We have hope that he won't damage this nation as badly as it looks he will... We would always have 1 or 2 praying for Bush, but now 3 or 4 do so for Obama.... Our feeling as a group is to pray for the salvation of many, as many will be harmed by the liberal policies coming.

Harry Truman left the office as an unpopular president. However, over the years as people understood what was required for him to make the decision to drop the A Bomb and end WWII, saving millions of lives, their respect for him increased. Now he is generally recognized as an exceptional president.

I believe that in a few years people will recognize that President Bush was an exceptional president. After 9/11 he told the American people that the War on Islamic Terrorism would be long. People in this country have a short memory. Hopefully that memory will not be refreshed under O'bama. If he follows through on his campaign promises to dismantle our defense against terrorism we will face another attack much worse than 9/11.

While I am dreading the arrival of Obama, I am glad that President Bush is out. While Bush did some good things while in office, overall he was a total disappointment. President Bush wasn't the conservative he tried to make himself out to be. I thought that his father, George H.W. Bush was better. Even if McCain would have won the election, I would still be worried. Just not as much. The only good thing about McCain is he had a conservative running mate, for me that still wasn't enough.

Maybe the next election, the Republican Party will sit down & think about why they lost this election. Hopefully they'll get it right next time around.

McCain was a terrible choice for the GOP. There were far better choices available and the liberals summarily dispatched them...

The GOP needs a revival, of Biblical proportions.

For you who are praying for Obama, I would like to know what it is you are praying for. I am not trying to debate, I am serious. I honestly don't know how to pray or what to pray for.

Are you praying for him to succeed? Succeed at what? Do you want him to succeed with his socialist agenda? Are you praying his heart will change? Are you praying for his salvation? Are you praying for him to have wisdom? For his safety? For him to be powerful? For him to succeed with economical answers?

I am not being facetious. I cannot bring myself to pray for the man or any of his companions. I believe the US is under God's Judgment with the outcome of the election. So, therefore, I ask, how is a Christian supposed to pray for Obama? And for what specifically? It's not that I don't want to pray for him, I do. But I don't know what to pray for when it comes to him. I am too repulsed at his victory to pray right now. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe he is not evil even though he supports killing infants who are born alive. But to me, he is evil and how do I pray for evil?

I pray, as I do for President Bush and all world leaders, that the world will be kept as peaceful as possible through God's guidance and help.

I am sorry that you cannot bring yourself to follow the apostle Paul's exhortation starting at noon on January 20. I urge you to reconsider:

    1 Tim. 2:1-3 (ESV)
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, [2] for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. [3] This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,

So, Ken, other than thumping me over the head with 1 Tim. 2:1-3, (which I already knew about, BTW), you haven't really answered the questions in my post, have you. The reason I asked my questions is because of that passage, so your "answer" to my questions was a non-answer, IMO. It looks to me like you are praying in generalities. I mean, let's look at what you are praying for - that the would will be kept as peaceful as possible through God's guidance and help. What exactly does that mean? What about God's will being done?

What about specifics? Are you praying for Obama to be convicted about his record on infanticide and abortion? Are you praying for him to have wisdom? Are you praying for him to seek God's face?

So other than thumping me over the head with one passage, are you exactly following I Tim. 2:1-3 and interceding for Obama, making supplications? Are you following Paul's exhortation? Got anything with more substance or meat to it? Got any specific answers to my questions?

It is hard to ask the Lord to bless this nation without asking a special blessing on the leader. I pray the Lord really puts His arms around him and bestow Him with the wisdom to lead this nation in these times of great separation and uncertainty. I pray he continues to be a great father o his children and husband to his wife and that he loves and protect this nation as he does his own family.

America is really a great nation. However, of late, we have been more self-great than great in the eyes of the world. I am praying our image can be restored and that we can be that beacon of light set out on the hill that will make others seek and desire to be part of this nation of Christian values.

God has seen fit to put Obama in authority over our nation. I pray and am thankful that God is in control. I pray that He will grant Obama wisdom (which is knowing the will of God) to lead us.

For Lady Eagle's [her eyes only?]

LE....you have a solid point, and a great question. So, may I point your prayer in the direction of praying for this nation and it's people IN SPITE OF Obama. He doesn't matter, because God is truly in charge of all that happens here.

My prayers are that God continues to be able to do as He so wills, in spite of Obama and the bungling ideals of what or where he believes the USA should be in order to get him re-elected in 2012. I believe his ambition and drive to be a two term president will be the saving grace for this nation.

He will not do anything that would go against the public opinion. Like Clinton, Obama will closely follow the polls, and change his direction as often as needed to maintain his popularity. He has a tremendous need to be popular in the eyes of the people, so use that thought when you pray.

I look at America as being run not by one man, or woman, but, by a band of ruthless thugs who lack any kind of spiritual morality, or human decency. Their tendency to be corrupt is unbelievably high. However, God can influence, and move freely among this sort of administration, because this is what the world has been best at being since He created it and Adam and Eve were banned from the Garden. In other words, life will go on as it has, and God will move us ever so closer to the Rapture of the church! PTL....

Which "liberals?" I assume you mean the Republican liberals? Actually, I believe that if the Republicans had nominated anybody else Obama's margin of victory would have been closer to a landslide. McCain was the one Republican who could realistically run against George Bush which he did. If he hadn't picked Sarah Palin for VP the election might have been close.

Thank you for your reply, RD. I am puzzled, though.

The passage Ken pointed out that we are all familiar with in I Tim. But where does it say specifically to pray for wicked leaders. I mean, the people of Germany, if they prayed for their leader Adolf Hitler, wouldn't that be going against Scripture? Wouldn't a better prayer, rather than for blessings on Obama and his wicked plans and schemes, be to pray God uses Obama to accomplish His Plan for the Ages?

Also, I want God's blessings on my country, but that is selfish of me and us because America no longer deserves God's blessings when we blaspheme His Holy Name, murder His creations, defy His laws with abominations, and elect evildoers to rule over us and represent us in our type of government. So perhaps, if we are under God's Judgment, we should pray God gives His Church the strength and wisdom to endure the days ahead.

Several things that I have been pondering lately. I shudder thinking about tomorrow and in fact, am repulsed, the more I learn about this Obama man. Now, he is having a leader of a muslim group with terrorist ties to pray to allah at the National Cathedral. (Of course, Bush did that too at the 09/11 memorial service tere, and I lost all confidence in Bush as president at that point).

I cannot bring myself to pray for evil to prevail and for evil people to prosper. Sorry, just can't do it and find no Scriptures to tell me to do so. If you know of any, please post them here. Thanks.

Since Scripture puts no qualifiers on praying for those in authority, we have no right to, either.

If you choose to not pray for our President, then you are in direct violation of the Scriptural admonition. That's between you and God to work out.

When Paul wrote “1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” (Romans 13:1, NKJV), Nero was in power!

I understand exactly how you feel, LE. Here is how I am praying right now:

    1. That Obama will seek godly wisdom instead of relying on his own understanding
    2. That God will convict Obama, humble him, and change his heart, or else remove him from office
    3. That God would convict the Christians in this country who have turned their backs against what the Bible teaches (such as homosexuality and abortion)
    4. That we Christians will seek God's face and focus more on the great commision instead of political leaders to bring morality back to our country. Yes, politicians can make laws, but only God can change hearts. If we spent as much time soulwinning as we do debating or bewailing (in my case) politics, we might be more effective.

The heart of the king (in this case president) is in God's hands.

LE... ABC beat me too it.. that is EXACTLY how I am praying.

I view it this way.. .

God is in control... HE chose Obama at this time and for a purpose.
Since God is in control, and will never do anything to eternally hurt his children, I can rest.

I pray that Obama will fulfill the purpose God has for him to fulfill. I pray that Obama will seek God's guidance. (of course if he hasn't been born again, this is first and foremost) If he has, and is just disobedient, seeking God's wisdom will take care of that.

Obama may turn out to be someone good. There have been worse people in history, and by the time God got through with them, they turned out great... look at Apostle Paul.

Read Habakkuk... the whole book.. it is fitting today. Especially the last few verses of the book...

I will pray for you LE.

Thanks, ABCgrad and Tiny. Those are good prayers. Perhaps I can bring myself to pray along similar themes as yours.
