I thought that I'd scoop all the Bush-hatin' posters here, and add some fodder.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - President Bush refused on Tuesday to rule out nuclear strikes against Iran if diplomacy fails to curb the Islamic Republic's atomic ambitions....

Personally, I'm torn. If we do,a whole lot of people would die, all at once. But OTOH, if we don't, a lot of people would die, over a longer period of time. I don't know.

But the libby blogs are gonna explode. This should be fun to watch.....

This ain't news Bro. Curtis however talks with China over using nuclear force on Iran is something I haven't heard yet.
I guess my question would be is Mr. Bush cowboy enough to follow through on his threats. Also keep this in mind that if for some strange reason he does follow through our country may be retaliated with nuclear weapons from other countries sympathetic with Iran.
And now for the Bush bashing; We have a deluded President rolling the dice betting that all other countries will stand down if we threaten to use or do actually use nuclear force. Care to lay your bets?

    Bro. Curtis,

If Iran is not stopped a lot of people will die period...

Many different large groups will all die at one time because Iran **will** use and distribute nukes once it has them...

We do not have to use Nukes to set Iran back to the stone age...

We have the conventional and precision weapons capability to do so without Nukes...

Using Nukes crosses a threshold of no return...

No sane nation with **ANY** other choice will use Nukes...

Nukes are an option of last resort for 'sane' nations...

    Mike Sr.

BTW: A lot of people said we were wrong about using 'Fat Man' and 'Little Boy' over Japan...

However, given the fanatical fervor with which the Japanese had exhibited the willingness to fight to the last man woman and child...

The people who dies directly as a result of the two nukes were a small fraction of the expected losses to Americans alone...

Daisy, I believe Iran may be exagerating a bit. But who knows ? I sure don't want to see a nucular (tee hee) war. But I'd hate even more to see tham start one.

There is a good chance that if we used conventional weapons to put Iran back in the stone age that sympathetic nations would use nukes (if they are able) on us in part due to all this talk.

Nukes are the modern day equivalent of the six shooter in the old west. It is the great equalizer of nations.

Pakistan would be a threat. They have nukes, and the IslamoNazis have gained ground in the gov't. Music & pictures of women have been banned, in two of four provinces. I believe we would have trouble with them, if we used strategic conventional weapons to take out Iran's nuke sites.

It's a no-brainer that we are headed to a showdown of ideals. We have a choice. We can continue to be oppressed by our evil, levee bombing, election stealing president, or bow down to the religion of peace, where women are allowed the freedom they can't have here.

    SpiritualMadman, great points.

Pretty cool. Another "E=IxR" guy. I specialize in audio applications. I worked at BOSE for a long time, as a new product debug tech, and now work at a consumer electronics repair bench. Navy trained.

    Anyhoo, back to the O/P.

And Daisy, I sure didn't mean to steal any of your thunder on the other thread. This is a newer article, perhaps I should have just added it on your thread.

No problemo, Bro. I was just correcting your bragging about scooping all the "Bush-hatin' posters here"...not that I think I'm an actual Bush-hater, merely a Bush-despiser ;) .

Your article is later, but note that it does refer to Hersch's New Yorker article which is the catalyst for a lot of these others. I think it's always interesting to read the original piece - in this case, it's an in-depth (compared to the news pieces) analysis. It's really not a Bush-hating article...for that, see this interview with Bush's Daddy's good friend and former advisor, Brent Snowcroft (linkie) or this review of a documentary of Al Gore and the environment (linkie). The movie review also contains a lot of Al-bashing, so you might enjoy it. [IMG]

Well, it seems that if they were able to push the entire world this far, several leaders of several countries could be bashed.

I'm at work, but I'll print those articles for later.
