I guess he's trying to alienate the few left that still support him:BangHead:

I thought he'd hit rock bottom but I guess he's startin' to dig...

"WASHINGTON — Hoping to salvage an immigration reform bill that many thought had taken a fatal blow last week, President Bush told Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill Tuesday that failure to adopt a new bill will leave in place an "unacceptable" status quo."

I understand and agree that the status quo is unacceptable, but it's no excuse to pass a bill that doesn't address the core problem of not having closed the borders.

In this case, the President's cure is worse than the disease.

This bill certainly does not reflect what a conservative would do to solve the problem. There is something amiss when Kennedy, McCain ally with the President. Maybe reality has taken a back seat to desperation to get any program passed before the term expires.

Anyway, this cannot help the republicans in 2008, especially considering the candidates that have announced.

Yup. When all else fails, attack your base.

He's being an idiot about this, it's a no-winner for him.
