I'm falling off my chair in shock (for now). Except if he wins the election this November, next year I think he'll give in. Maybe it's wrong of me to doubt motives in an election year, but I can't forget it's all politics. So for now, the Log Cabin Republicans have to wait.

Where is the pride in being gay at all? The Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for these men's sexual proclivity. [Genesis 19:1-15 & Romans 1:25-32]

My wife is a coordinator at Lehigh University and they have this Gay Pride Day. I believe if you agree with gay pride you have to place a certain color ribbon on your door, suggesting that this is a 'safe area', if you will for these kinds of people. Also, on that day all women who agree with this 'Gay Pride Day' have to ware blue-jeans. Of course, my wife does not participate in masking this unthinkable sin at the Lehigh or any other place.

We are going to get another wake up call because of our national sins; the Twin Towers was the first alarm.

He'll find some middle ground that will advance the homosexual agenda while keeping millions of suckers from the Christian Right on board.

Yep. Just last year, he had gay republicans in the White House, praising them.

Now he doesn't like them, anymore.

One more flop for Flipper George.

Can't a person change their mind for the good? Would you prefer if he made the proclamation?

Yea right, the attack on the World Trade Center is a direct result of homosexual activity in the United States.

May I ask you for your sources?

Not to disagree with ya over the context, but S & G were not destroyed because of their sexual promiscuity (if that were the case, all the cities in the region would have been destroyed, since they all were guilty of the same sexual practices). I'm not condoning fornication (which includes same gender sex), I'm simply clarifying a point.
I vehemently disagree. 9-11 was not the result of our sins. 9-11 was the result of a group of fanatical wackos. Such Falwellian statements are self-righteous at best. Sorry, I respect Falwell, but he was not being very Godly when he made such a ridiculous statement. He forgot to pull the plank out of his own eye first.

Was he praising them for being gay?

To clarify the clarification, Scripture makes it clear that sexual perversion was the reason that S & G were destroyed. The fact that God destroyed some for it does not mean that he has to destroy all for it.

It should be noted that Falwell has apologized to gays for his harsh words about them, and has invited them into his church.

He remains opposed to their lifestyle, but accepts that they are like other sinners, to be ministered to.

    There's unexpected good in everyone.

I'm accusing him of selfrighteousness. If one considers that immoral, then yes.

Yes, and for that he also needs to be commended, a point which I failed to mention.

I agree with his approach here.

People are free to read the story for themselves. We shall notably agree to disagree with the conclusions of the biblical story. We're not disagreeing with the issue that same gender sexual activity is immoral, however, nor are we disagreeing that S & G were practicing such (I need to clarify these because people on this board have falsely accused me of saying that homosexual sex is not a sin. I have never said, nor implied such).

Ezekiel 16v49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

Ezekiel 16:50 (the very next verse):

"And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: THEREFORE I took them away as I saw good."

Fine Jim, but they all tie together, hence my statement - "it was not that sin alone for which God judged the cities"

    Lets see:
    Pride
    Fullness of bread
    idleness
    no compassion
    haughty
    abomination (clearly homosexuality)

    They all tied together.

Perhaps they were eating catfish, again. God warned them not to eat catfish. Or maybe it was shrimp. He told them not to eat shrimp.

    Who knows?

No they aren't. All are sins, an apparently were part of the overall corruption of the cities. But homosexuality appears to be the one particular sin for which the cities were destroyed. Soft-peddling it does no good.

I have heard it taught that the first 5 led to the 6th. When you consider that Romans 1 indicates that homosexuality is not only a sin but actually God's judgment on people, then I think that lends some credence to the idea. I have not studied it enough to say for sure but I think it is a possibility.
