Actually, I do believe Hitler was elected, in a popular vote, much like the method we use.

BTW, thanx for stopping in here and giving a breath of fresh air. You cannot say you are voting for Bush without getting stomped on, so thanx for making it less lonesome in here.

Yes, Hitler was elected, and his model of coming to power was the model the CP should be following. The Socialist party started by getting elected to lesser offices and eventually worked their way up. If the CP would start in the heavily conservative parts of the country, running for local offices and conservative congressional districts and then start building up from there. It is a 10-15 year process but it it time much better spent than what they are currently doing putting Peroutka up for debates with David Cobb and others in the basement of some mock debating society.

But be that as it may, let's get back on topic ...shall we????

I would take great exception to Debby's comment that muslims and Christians worship the same God, since there is only one. The Muslim's have explicitly rejected the true God and instead worship a non-god ... a false god. That is the hart of false religion ... Rejection of the true God and the creation of some false god or gods. The Muslims do not worship the trueGod and therefore do not worship the same God as Christians worship.

The Constitution Party should model themselves after the Nazis? Good plan. :D

Right, that means you do not subscribe to the separation of the two questions I outlined. You hold that one's perception and beliefs of who and what the one true God is cannot be separated from agreeing that there is one true God. The other viewpoint would hold that "There is one true God" is an absolute unto itself since there IS only one true God. Get what I mean?

Funny. But Larry does bring up an excellent point. If the C.P. was better known and represented, perhaps a few more people would feel better about voting for them. I don't know of any C.P. govenors, mayors, state reps, or anything like that.

It may be a good point, but it is a point from one who doesn't understand how the two major parties have made it almost impossible for a minor party candidate to get elected, even to local offices. There are many running for offices other than the President around the country with the Constitution Party, but they have to focus all of their time and money just to get on the ballot, it doesn't leave much to get their name out to the voters.

Even if the Constitution Party had 10,000 elected officials in offices around the country that no one knows about, what good would it do. We must run for both local, state and federal. Having a Presidential candidate gives the Party the name recognition it needs that can help the other candidates in their run for their office.

Jim Clymer is running for US Senate in PA. Many people have heard of him because he was included in the televised debate. He actually has a chance of being elected, and there is a big likliehood that in any case we'll finally be rid of Specter.

Yes, they do, the Libertarians have been around since before 1972, the Constitution Party has been around since 2000. It takes time, and it takes principled voters who will work with the party and support the party instead of "waiting for the party to become viable."

It looks like the Constitution Party's Joel Hansen may win in Nevada Supreme Court seat this November!

    Pastor Larry said:

Not really. The Nazis' high-water mark was the election of July 1932, when it received 37.4 percent of votes for the Reichstag. In the November election, the party polled only 31.1% of the vote, and party leaders were pessimistic.

However, industrialists, bankers, large landowners and the military — worried about the growing strength of the workers' parties (the Social Democrats and the Communists) — convinced President Hindenburg (who had defeated Hitler in the 1930 presidential election and had nothing but contempt for the Nazi leader) to appoint Hitler as chancellor.

Shortly before the 1933 election, the Reichstag caught fire. The Nazis said it was a Communist plot; opponents said the Nazis started the fire themselves. I'm not sure the question has been settled to this day.

However, the fire was enough for Hindenburg to grant Hitler dictatorial powers, and the Nazis rounded up thousands of opposition party members and sent them to concentration camps, closed opposition newspapers, had opposing candidates arrested and had the SA break up left-wind political meetings.

Even with those advantages, Hitler failed to secure a majority in the March 1933 election; the Nazi party polled 43.9 percent of the vote. After that, of course, Hitler outlawed other parties and systematically replaced local and provincial officials with Nazis or Nazi sympathizers.

Which was exactly my point ... It takes time ... years to build the party base and that needs to start at the local level.

As far as most voters are concerened the Constitution Party is only four years old. They first got ballot access in Florida and many other key states in 2000. And with the name change, in my opinion, became a new party. [IMG]

It is new and it will take time. More Americans are becomming aware of the CP now, and I expect more people will join in when the damamge to our republic at the hands of the Demopublicans becomes more apparent. ;)

How so? A 'god' who is a god that both Christians and Muslims 'worship' is an idol and not the true God. Is there any sin that we see in scripture that is condemned more than that sin of idolatry?

It doesn't seem right that conservative Christians will try to make toast of a President that commits adultery yet wink at one that commits idolatry.

And that's the BIG problem. Of all groups, Christians should not be characterized by hypocrisy.

Pastor Larry, I have a mate who says something along the lines of "Every Christian is a theologian, not every Christian is a good one"

I understand being POTUS would take a big chunk of time from the bloke, but surely he could find a bit of time now and then to learn some of the basics of the faith he claims to have.

Just had a dig through my bookshelf and came across Josh McDowell & Don Stewart's Concise Guide To Today's Religions. It has 22 pages on topic of Islam. If I thought they would be read I'ld scan and email them to George. If he does win next week I might do it anyway.

It is true that every person (not just Christians) are theologians, just not good ones. But my point was to use "theologian" in a more technical sense, which I think was clear.

Some people here apparently think they are electing a pastor. They are not. They are electing a political leader. To question how Bush is the lesser of two evils seems to indicate someone who hasn't been paying attention. Bush is bad in so many ways. But he is certainly less bad than Kerry. To vote for him is not hypocrisy in any way. It is a wise choice for the future of this country, to preserve it as much as can be.

A person whose house is on fire doesn't just let it burn down since it is burning anyway. They try to put the fire out to prevent as much damage as possible. The election is the same way. The American "house" is burning. But let's at least try to slow the fire with Bush, rather than pouring gasoline on it with Kerry. That fact that this is even questioned is beyond belief. It seems that we can't see past the end of our own noses sometimes ...
