Do you deny the very Scripture stating Christ doesn't know the day or hour? Why not take your question up with Him...or accept the fact your theology does not have an answer to every paradox and tension found in the Bible?

James 2:5 says "...has God not chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom..."

It does not say "God chose the poor while they were poor." It plainly says "God chose the poor in the world to be rich in faith..."

    There is a huge difference.

Also, the nature of "Chose," being an Aorist Middle verb, tells us that the choosing was done in the past and the choosing was done in total, not in part.

The verse also does not specifically say that God chose the poor to be poor. To make this assertion, one needs to apply other verses, etc.

So, your use of this as a proof-text is improper and does great violence to the intent of the author.

    Reply to Archangel,

Every verse that says God chooses individuals during their lifetime for salvation by means of the Holy Spirit putting them in Christ on the basis of crediting their faith in Christ as righteousness, must be rewritten by Calvinism.

The verse says God chose the poor, not God chose those who would become poor. It says He chose those who were poor to the world, or in other words, those the world considered poor based on material wealth, but He chose them as rich in faith according to His value system. Further James 2:5 says those chosen were heirs to the kingdom promised to those who love God, so they loved God when they were chosen.

Scripture alone is my authority, and the opinon of those who do not accept God's word is without merit.

Folks, Calvinism is based on making not one or two verses to no effect, but verse after verse after verse. The TULI doctrines are unbiblical.
