How would one compare the Christian life with that of a camper? We are all "camping" on this earth as we await our heavenly home. Our "tents" are our homes and our bodies. Any other camping similarities or thoughts? This is for SS lesson. Any help would be appreciated.

You're probably already aware of 2 Cor 5:1, and that the OT tabernacle was a "tent". You may also be able to draw in some insights about Paul being a tent maker, or about the wonder of nature which God created.

Don't drive the tentpegs in too deep on this side of GloryLand!!! Don't get too use to living here--even Methuslia's "969 year trek" 'tis is a drop in the bucket compare to Eternity that awaits!!

Some folks want to go high tech camping. Their idea of roughing it is a small 30' camper. They really don't want to "camp" they just want to pretend they are camping.

I thought this was about Harold Camping, too. He just predicted that Christ will come back in 2011 (I guess his failed prediction that Christ would return in 1994 has not slowed him down).

There is a whole theme of God tabernacling or dwelling among men in the Bible. In John 1:14, it says
The word translated as "dwelt" is actually the word for "tabernacled." So Christ came and tabernacled among us -- He camped out with us. Just as God tabernacled in the Tent with the Israelites in the wilderness, so Jesus tabernacled in a human body among men.

Then in Rev 21.5, it says
So in the new heaven and earth, God will tabernacle with us -- we will be in a final "camp" that is our eternal home with God.

I never understood why Christianity considers our earthly voyage as temporary stating that heaven is our true home. I understand that heaven is our destination but it is not permenant. Does not the Bible teach that Christ shall return with all his saints and set up his kingdom here on earth where we will reign with him for a thousand years THEN enter into eternity in that state????

We are not going to a permenant home in heaven, we are just leaving on a blessed honeymoon while our real home gets a major renovation [IMG]

oh yeah, BTW I claim georgia as my place in the kingdom [IMG] jk

He did ? Oh, well, maybe he figures he won't be around to face the embarrassment if that prediction fails considering he's almost ninety, and if Christ returns earlier, and he is a child of God, I guess that'll be part of the tears God will wipe away from his eyes.
