    1. I am able to hear the Holy Spirit.
    2. I will defend my loved ones whatever it takes.

However, as the Marines in Iwo Jima used to say,

I am kinda sad that Americans are beginning to act like Swedes in increasing numbers--"Stockholm Syndrome" anyone? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

How does anyone know it is the Holy Spirit and not "another spirit" II Cor 11:4 ?

Sorry for the delay in getting back.

Did not God raise up men, such as Ehud in the book of Judges? If I remember right, he assassinated the King and did so in the name of the Lord.

Read the story for yourself, it is found in Judges chapter 3.

I can only reply by quoting Donna from an earlier page in this discussion.
"There are no NT scripture telling us to do such. Can we, no. Should we, no. The physical world you see is only a symptom of the real disease. The bible gives no instructions to christian on how to strainghten out the physical world(the symptom), but rather gives us instructions on treating the disease(taking Jesus to people are living without Him). Terry,
Keep in mind that the book of Judges deals with the land of Isreal and the Jews in the land. God had given them the land and commanded them to rid the land of all heathen. We as NT believers have no land but are ambassadors to those of this world. Joh 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

And as I have posed earlier what does God think about rebellion.(ISam 15:23)

Well, I guess we should just get rid of those cumbersome Old Testament books, after all, we aren't Israel.

Not that we get rid of them, but God made a covenant with Isreal - the only nation with whom He as ever done so.

    Dear Eltrow,

But the verses you quoted say that rulers are not a terror to good works but to evil. But what if the citizens do that which is good but get repaid evil by the rulers?

What if a modern-day Hitler occupies the White House? Wouldn't you Americans unite to get him out? ;)

</font>[/QUOTE]Not in a rebellion to "overthrow" as was suggested. Christ lived under the Roman Gov't as did the apostles. None of them advocated such action. They went a preached the Gospel, regardless of what was going on in Gov't. I don't believe we shouldn't try to change the gov't by voting, but I don't find scriptural reasoning for advocating a military type action against the White House. In fact, talk of such could be considered treason  and very much carry a possibility of imprisonment, especially in today's environment.

Absolutely not! As 1Sa 15:23 For rebellion [is as] the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness [is as] iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from [being] king.

Why should I fight and entangle myself in the things of this world when they are to pass away. Are you proud to be an American? The OT says that God hates pride along with the NT.

Ps 101:5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

Pr 21:4 ¶ An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.

Pr 28:25 ¶ He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

The love for the things of this world show how much we don't love God.

1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1Jo 2:16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

1Jo 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

If you want an evil government overthrown, get on you knees!

Excellent answer. Christianity often states the "power of prayer", but it is stated that many seldom use that as their weapon of first or second choice.

Can christians OVERTHROW an EVIL government?

Are you talking about the American government?

We have no need to overthrow our government.

We have (had) a constitutional republic with all power inherent in the people.

The constitution is the supreme law of the land instituted to put barriers on "government" not the people! Now this is turned around in favor of "the government" putting barriers on the people.

Who instituted this law? We the people of the United States.

Why was this law instituted? "in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranuility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity"

"All governments everywhere derive it's power from the consent of the people".

If it's a Hitler regime the people gave their consent by not acting in a manner contrary to that evil. They didn't recognize it in time.

If it's a constitutional republic as America was founded...and the government has become evil it has been with and through the consent of the people. By not acting in a manner contrary to this evil we the people have givin our consent to it. We have the bible and history to help us recognize this evil we don't have an excuse.

We do not need to overthrow our government as established under the constitution. If anything we need to realize that this government in Washington is not our government any longer.

Our elected "public servants" have slipped the chains of the constitution and have become something other than our government. A clearing house for the global banksters and huge corporate interests maybe, but it is no longer our government.

We (myself included) are guilty of giving our consent to this and even helped it along by staying silent and not acting contrary to this evil.

It's not a question of overthrowing anything, it's more a question of how long are we going to stand by and let this "alien power" (unconstitutional) take over our lives and our country.

Follow Romans 13 and submit to the higher authorities, ok. But, identify that authority with a lawful government established by the constitution, and not some other form of an "alien" government with it's power derived from the theft and sale of our lawful legal form of constitutional republic and the soveriegnty of the people.

Let's not talk of overthrowing our government. Instead lets talk of ways to deal with the evil we have consented to for so long now. This evil is called corruption to the best of my knowledge and is having a grand ole time masquerading as our government.

Is it christian to stand quietly by and consent to evil and help it spread by not speaking out and using our rights as Americans to bring this government back under control of the constitution and therefore the people?

Thanks Ken. I hope that we actually get to vote this year.

With all the trends of the last couple years...I can't help but wonder...if voting actually changed anything it would most likely be outlawed in the name of democracy and liberty and the government would be appointed by some world governing body, and the people would say...oh well...it's to fight terrorism so I guess it's okay.
