Featured Can Someone PLEASE Define Cussing/Profanity?

Incredible...but NOT unbelievable

E,W&F....In WHAT part of God's entire universe and in accordance with what, IF ANY part of His precious Word could you POSSIBLY believe that ANY of what you just said about your carnal language OR the carnal music of this world (except that you love your wife) is pleasing to our Holy God and honorable in His sight? IF NONE OF US had been present (but now we ARE because you told us about it...) then God would have still been there anyway. Even if we weren't He always IS! Do you really believe any of that is pleasing in His sight? That is the question we all need to ask ourselves about the things we say, do and allow. Are we pleasing to God? That's all I got to say about it. I'm convinced that much of what we say and do is PROFANE in God's eyes EVERYDAY. Thank God for His Mercy and the Blood of Christ and what it covers.

In spite of Earth, Wind & Fire's shocking opinion of my post, I wasn't trying to glorify me, just show that IFB churches and believers are out there in the world trying to reach people, not in some bubble existence. It is entirely possible to have high, strict standards of conduct, but still be respected by the lost and still reach them for Christ.

 

Let me paraphrase a quote from US Supreme Court Justice Potter Steward, in commenting on a case in 1964 whether a movie ("The Lovers") was pornographic.

 

God's way has always appeared to be unrealistic to the majority. But His strict standard of conduct is HOLINESS. And we are to be HOLY as our Father in heaven is HOLY.

And there simply is nothing holy about cussing or profanity.

The lost respect that standard because they are looking for genuine people who live as though they truly believe what they are preaching. They aren't looking for perfect people. Just for folks who strive for perfection because that's what a Holy God demands. And they know this.

That's one of the reasons they term most Christians as hypocrites because they see folks living and speaking and doing the exact same things that they do.

By contrast, holiness demands that we be set apart.

I applaud the strict standard because that standard is God's truth.:godisgood:

Folks, I'd like you to notice something. EWF said some very strong things here. To be honest, I was quite shocked! (Still am!) I didn't think he was this kind of person, the insulting kind. (Still hope he isn't, and that this was just an aberration from the emotion of the moment.) Yet he didn't use one single taboo word, swear word, or "potty word"! (Even though I'm sure he wanted to.)

You can communicate effectively and even strongly, with great impact, without using taboo words. Thanks to EWF for proving that. :tongue3:

 

Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back or break your leg falling off your soapboxed. Let me know when you write your book. I'm sure every Fundy is just itching to read it. (rolls eyes) BTW, separation is practiced by Old School Baptists & you do know you wouldn't be allowed in (no matter who your grandfather was). :tongue3:

Amen John...I think Christians ought to live by a far higher standard as well. The only opinion of us that really matters is God's anyway. His truth and His holiness must be our benchmark.
