Thank you for the quote/link comparing semi-Pelagianism w/Arminianism.

So by that philosophy God just allows people to go to hell when he could have stepped in and prevented it? We can come to God on our own...God gave us free will..he did not want to force us to come to him! I'm shocked at what some of you are teaching on here..false teachings! :BangHead:

    Steve,

I honestly think and perceive that you possibly misunderstand Don's attempt at clarification. Many here have differing views on the "free will" of man and the nature that it takes. Undoubtedly MOST if not all recognize even within the parameters of free will, that God has somewhere and at some point taken the initiative in the redemption of we mortals.

if you bang your head on posts everytime you come across some things you don't agree with, you are going to have onehelluva headache here. my advice is go find a board where everybody holds hands and cooes and aaahhh at each other with dreamy eyes and fluttery eyelids at how they all agree with each other. smooch, smooch...

here's one more thing to bang your head at a wall for.
I, and some other dudes here, believe that God NO LONGER redeems at this point in time of His economy. The cross is PAST, the blood is SHED, the tomb is EMPTY, and Christ is SEATED on His throne in the heavens INTERCEDING for HIS PEOPLE, and will come at the Father's appointed time.

TOO LATE for anyone's free will, say wot ?
Unfortunately, if you think your free will is what will get you to heaven, here's another NEWS FLASH: Christ didn't wait for you, dude, He went up that cross when it was His time to go, and He ain' gon' be bohn of no virgin no more, ain' gon' be no massacre of infants no more, no exodus to Egypt, no trip back FROM egypt, Pilate ain' gon' be resurrected no mo', not for you, not for anybody else.

    It's DONE.
So much for man's free will.

You're gonna have to help me out here. Are you saying that we can come to God of our own free will, or that God has elected His own?

No. They remain lost without Christ.

True arminians also hold to real free will abiding within the sinner, so that once God applies common grace towards them, its up to their decision to get saved or not, so potentially all sinners could get saved, as in their belied jesus died for all, or none can get saved, as all free to still reject him!

God could have rightly allowed ALL of us to go to Hell!

he is free to chose whom he desired to save, and to allow the remiander to 'excercise free will", and go to hell!

There's nothing wrong with that concept. From scripture we know that only those that believe will be saved; that many will not see heaven. So trying to present this as an argument against arminianism is a fallacy.

was not stating their position to find fault with arminianism, just used to show that while cals hold toa definite salvation achieved for the elect of god by death of jesus, arms see that as securing a potential salvation for all sinners, and God "honors free will" to allow us to choose yes or no...
