Cashless society by 2012, says Visa chief

I wish all companies would accept debit cards.
I hardly ever carry cash now.
No big deal.

 

I'll believe it when I see it. They have been talking about this for years. I am sure it will come to pass, but because the BIBLE says so- not Mastercard or Visa.

Anyone remember the 'paperless offices' that were supposed to come to pass as a result of computer technology? I have more paper now that I ever did before I got a computer!!!

 

Seems as if I have heard this before; around the mid-80's. Some guy did a talk show I listened to back then, though I didn't know for quite a while he was an Assembly of God minister. I remember he gave approximate dates (within a year of the broadcasts) of when cash is going to be "called in" and it was to be replaced by another color cash-- blue and yellow, I think-- and then the next step toward a "cashless society" was to turn in all that new cash, and everyone has to have a card to buy or sell anything. In the first steps we could "find out where so much of our currency is", then where the newly distributed currency had gone in such a time (and in both cases how much remained unaccounted for). Inherantly, all this applied to his Apocolyptic view.

Obviously none of this happened. And while I began to neglect that guy's broadcast, as well as most "Christian radio," it wasnt' long before his name was not mentioned and I haven't heard of him since.

So... don't be surprised if I am quite skeptical of any 'report' like this.

I've been a part of a cashless society since 1995.

I got married!

Just as "economic reforms" in RBell's world were happening in 2000, we had a very minor setback.

We had a a son!

Then, in 2004, a MAJOR setback to cash reserves. We had a DAUGHTER.

I've learned to live cashless. (visa-less too, though...so all is not lost!)

I remember reading here on the BB where someone stated the Mayan calender ends in 2012, and the rapture would be that year.
