Please, feel free to remove this thread if it is in anyway wrong.

I had a question however. I was not able to have my first attempt at registration approved. I had listed myself as Catholic. My second attempt met with success as I simply put Christian down. We are all Christian after all if we believe in Christ.

I know a few others that haven't been approved when putting Catholic down as well.

Is this something that is automatic for the system? Does someone actually go through and have to approve the applications for registration?

If either are true, how is this a way to preach the Gospel? Not allowing people in to be witnessed to, or learn what they believe, is hopefully not what this Christian site is about.

Again, any input is welcome. I certainly hope I am wrong in what I experienced, and I look forward to talking with you all.

Edit: I also invite you all to join myself, other Catholics, and fellow non-Catholic Christians on some other forums. We have some good discussions, and would always welcome those willing to talk. :) We are talking about this place right now as a matter of fact. http://forums.catholic.com/index.php

Satan believes in Christ, doesn't make him a christian. Can you explain, very simply, how a person can be saved?

Through Christ alone, through his death and resurrection we are saved. By his grace. You got my point, it doesn't answer any of the questions I had as to why you can't get approved while naming yourself Catholic. Can you answer these? I assumed it would have to be a moderator that did, or an admin. I would place them in another section, however I am unaware of where to address it and thought it would get noticed here.

HP: So do a lot of Baptists, and every other denomination and non-denominations for that matter, and it doesn’t make them a Christian either.

How can a person be saved Matt?

Considering that my name is Matt, I will assume somehow you know me. :)

A person can be saved through Christ alone. It is his divine gift of himself, through the willful death he endured for us.

Now, you want the long version of how we are saved? Or would you simply take that we are saved through the grace of Christ alone, without anymore explanation as to how that happens? :)

Several years ago, there was a problem here with a lot of members of differing religions. Some Catholic, some atheists, a Wiccan, and a bunch of liberal Christians.

They were flooding the boards, causing problems, making it difficult for the moderators to moderate and making fellowship nearly impossible.

It's unfortunate that a few spoiled it for others, but it was the only way to preserve the integrity of the board.

I find that ironic, having been banned from Catholic.com for sharing the Gospel with someone.

No thanks. Given the things you all say about Christians and Christianity over there, I'm not sure I want to know what you're saying about us.

On the other hand, I did get a kick out of the poster who claimed:"They're afraid to allow Catholics posting privileges, because they can't intelligently respond to legitimate Catholic theology", given that Lori4dogs doesn't even know what her own religion teaches.

I also thought this was kind of ironic, in light of one poster stating that "the Catholic church put the Bible together".

Matt (OP) - Can I ask you what your purpose is to come to a Baptist site if you are not Baptist and why you were deceptive in your applying for membership here? If you are Catholic, then stand as Catholic. If it does not allow you in as a Catholic and you change your "religion", what is that saying?

Not banned yet. :) I don't think I will ever be, unless I become angry, and horribly unChristian. If that happens, I will remove myself.

Good deal. I had a question on your thread and I say a lot but there is a basic question I was wondering if you could get to it.
    BTW glad to have you.

I am a Catholic Christian. I prayed about whether or not to apply as a Christian, but I am a Christian after all. I would gladly change my religion on my profile to Catholic Christian, however it's not an option on the forums to do so.

To answer your question as to why I am here: I read over the forums, saw questions posed to Catholics, but there were no Catholics responding, or even here to to respond. I felt that if you really wanted understand, and have a true representation of what Catholics believe, you would welcome a true Catholic among you.

I am not here to offend, and I hope that my presence does not do so. I am glad to have dialog with my non-Catholic Christian brothers and sisters.

I am sorry that you were banned, but of course, I don't know why that was.

The poster saying that "The Catholic Church put the Bible together" is not wrong in their statement. If you only focus on the words Catholic Church, it does become somewhat blurry however. The Catholic Church, with the Holy Spirit, did decide what was canon for the NT. The OT was already together, so to speak, and decided. I know that the discussion will go into the what the Jews said was canon and what they didn't recognize at the time as canon. However, if you read history, it is clear that scriptures floated around to all the individual churches, that made up the first Christian church together, and that there were some disputes on what was an actual gospel, and what was not inspired.

Eventually the Catholic Church, with the Holy Spirit's guidance, got together and put together the first "Bible". They decided what was inspired, with the Holy Spirit guidance of course. The Bible remained unchanged, until some 1200 years later when Martin Luther, not saying anything bad about him just the facts, decided to change it.

So, the poster;s statement on the Catholic forums, might come off as arrogance or untrue, but history shows us otherwise.

Hope that helps some. :) Thanks for your response.

Annsni: You see, that is just the point. This person did NOT change his religion. Catholics can be Christians just as Baptist can be Christians. Church denomination is not going to save you. Only repentance from our sins, belief in Jesus sacrifice on (once oblation of Himself once offered) on the cross and believing God raised Him from the dead. That is what makes us Christians. Anything else is hogwash.

Lets be honest here. I was reading this board back when Catholics were allowed to post. Yes, you had non-Christians, Oneness, Church of Christ, etc.) but they were hardly overrunning the Board. If anything, BB became a faithful witness to the gospel.

You did have very good Catholic posters who, I believe, were not proselytizing but were simply stating their defense to statements like 'Catholics ARE not Christians their dogmas prevent them from knowing the REAL Jesus.

I hope, like Thinkingstuff, the BB will begin to see how it might profit from people who may want to ask questions to see how Baptist and others may answer them.

I am, a Bible believing, washed in the blood of the lamb, Jesus professing, Born Again Catholic Christian.

But the question is "denomination" and they had truthfully written Catholic and was not accepted so they went ahead and changed it - deceitfully. The question of "denomination" has (Baptist, Methodist, Catholic...) written right there so "Catholic" is a valid choice and the proper choice for this OP.

    JDF:

'I find that hard to believe that you were been banned from Catholic.com for sharing the Gospel with someone.' I know lots on this board who have posted strong opinions about their faith and have never been banned for simply stating their version (they would say the 'true gospel' and all it led was to more discussion of bible interpretation. NO BANNING!

Could you give me the link for this posting in which you state that you were BANNED for SHARING the GOSPEL with someone? I have been on Catholic.com for a long time and I have never seen someone banned for this reason. It is usually, people who start personal attacks, crude statements, etc.

Seeing how you have posted on this board in that manner. IE: Matt Black, etc. I suspect you were banned for refusing to post in a charitable manner. Anyway, I know that you can dig up those post's on Catholic.com forum.

    Thanks!

Am I not Christian? I am a Catholic Christian. I believe in the Trinity, in salvation through Christ's own blood. Does this not make me a Christian. If you don't want the correct Catholic teachings, I am saying correct in the context that a Catholic is posting what the Catholics believe, then by all means let me know.

I am here in peace alone, if you all do not wish for any Catholics here, I will gladly leave you to it. Though, there will be no one to respond to the Catholic questions that are posed here, and then wondered why there are no responses.

This is a nonissue. The Catholics who are posting here are obviously Christians, and if I never meet them personally, I look forward to meeting them someday in Heaven. The same goes for all you noncatholic Christians.

But you were deceptive in your registration. You knew the right answer to your denomination was "Catholic" since that was a choice that was there. You were not accepted so you changed your denomination to sneak in. That is deception IMO.
