This "drives" me crazy! The law here is totally ignored. Today, we went for a short drive and had more than a dozen people using cell phones going slower than the speed limit, not paying attention, that we had to manuever around.

But the ones that really get to me are those who are obviously texting while driving.

Using a cell phone while driving (or doing anything that is not a part of driving) should not only be illegal EVERYWHERE, but it should be strictly enforced with stiff fines. People need to pay attention to their driving. That way MAYBE there would be a lot less accidents.

"Accident" is the incorrect word. You mean collision.

Anyways it would be ridicules to make everything illegal while you are driving. Should we go to the extreme of not allowing any talking while dirving...

Yeah, let's make radios illegal in cars too! While we are at it, you shouldn't be able to eat or drink while driving. Forget about singing a song to yourself. Heck, let's just do away with cars!

There's already laws on the books for reckless driving. If someone is driving recklessly, charge them. It doesn't matter what the cause is. If I can drive perfectly well talking on my cell phone, then leave me alone!

I believe that people should exercise common sense when they are behind the wheel. When people drive, a person should have insurance, wear a seatbelt, & shouldn't talk on the cell phone while driving. I don't think common sense should be legislated.

If I drive my car without wearing a seatbelt, its my fault if I die or get injured. If I drive without insurance, get into a wreck, & its my fault for causing it, then the other party can sue me. If I talk on a cell phone & cause a wreck, then I am liable.

I have had numerous close calls while I have had a second person in the car. A passenger can be as distracting as a cell phone.

My last "accident" was just a fender bender; there was no collision, which I think of as serious damage to the car and possibly to the occupants. I stopped and the car behind me didn't.

Also, since many people can't talk to others in the car without turning their head and looking at them (thus taking their eyes off the road), I think that maybe that, too, should be banned in moving vehicles. However, that would be impossible to enforce.

If I'm talking to someone in the car, I don't look at them--unless I'm the passenger. The driver, however, should keep his/her eyes on their driving and nothing else. I watch the other vehicles and look out for people doing stupid things that could cause an accident. I carry a cell phone in my car in case of an emergency, but I don't talk on it while I'm driving.

So...it's ok to talk to a passenger as long as you don't turn you head, but it's not ok to talk on the cellphone? Trust me, I won't be looking at the person I'm speaking to when I'm on the cell phone.

This just sounds like you do one thing (talking to passengers), so that's OK. Since you don't talk on the cell phone, that's not OK.

Sometimes when someone is aggressively tailgating, I like to tap my brake to get them to back off. At least if they hit me, then they are at fault.

Good point - but if that doesent work - than pull over and let him pass. If someone is going to be stupid, I would rather have him in front of me, than behind me.

It is also not warm enough to drive barefooted most of the year....

Back to the OP: Hang up and drive!!!! You think your endless yapping on the cell phone has no effect on your driving? You ought to try sharing the road with yourself sometime....

I think I will start taking pictures of all those talking on cell phones while driving. Let's see, I can open my car window, hang my camera out the window and take the picture. .... What do you think?

Oh, so that was you!! You made me spill my 24 ounce coffee onto my GPS which made my 10 CD changer start to cycle. I would've called the police but my phone was under my McDonald's Value meal....
