Oh . . . I thought you might have been referring to the Lindberg propaganda that you listened to around the radio when you were growing up.

Actually the root of the problem is STILL American corruption coupled with that of Mexican corruption. Ever been to a malqueadora (sp)? Let me tell you the atrocities that AMERICAN corporations get away with, courtesy of the Mexican government, are shameful and disgusting. It is not just Mexico, either; the root of the problem is rampant in Latin America, courtesy of American interference, the IMF, and other supporters of modernization theory. In fact, if we really want to get into it, the root of the problem in all these countries is DEPENDENCY and perpetual underdevelopment brought on by the global economy.

I'm not holding my breath, for either government to clean up the mess. We have a better chance of cleaning up American corruption so that illegal immigrants can work here legally.

We can'tdo much about Mexico's inability to employ their own people, but we can do something about the flood at the borders.

Trouble is this: Not corruption but unwillingness.

When the rule of law is pooh-pooh'd away like it is these days, you can be certain we will go down with a whimper much like ancient rome did.
