A poster who cannot post in this Forum asked me questions about Jack Chick and Chick Tracts. Rather than let me have all the fun, thought I'd pass the question on to everyone so that a good cross-section (and not MY bias) will come through.

Jack Chick is a hyperfundamentalist loon. But it's no sin to be a loon. It is, however, a sin to bear false witness against your neighbor, which Jack Chick has done often.

Well, let's see. For starters, he says that the Roman Catholic Church, wanting to kill all the Jews, was the real culprit behind the Holocaust, and that Adolph Hitler was just a puppet of the Vatican. Also, according to him, the Ku Klux Klan, the Nazis, and the Masons are all secretly being directed by Jesuit agents. Oh, and while I'm at it, he claims that the Roman Catholic Church was beind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

I know the RCC is copious with flaws, but this guy has a major case of catholicaphobia.

His tract on Bible versions (no, I'm not going to give it here) is laughable in so many places, most especially when he (in a single panel, no less), describes the causes of the English Reformation.

His promotion of Alberto Rivera, a self-described former Jesuit provacateur, is downright embarrassing.

BTW: John's not kidding; you name the conspiracy, Jack buys into it.

Wow. Wow, wow , and wow.

It is amazing. I'm not really too politically inclined but, I really don't believe most of that. I guess it takes all kinds :-/

I believe that Chick also supported and endorsed the claims of Laurie Stratton, who had claimed that she was a survivor of SRA (Satanic Ritual Abuse). When her story was exposed, Chick still stood by what she said. Then she started claiming she was a Holocaust survivor, although her age did not allow for the stories she told on that one.

Apparently, she was a professional victim who went around to churches with these stories and got the royal treatment because of it. It is sort of a sickness. Sadly, she died a few years ago, still enmeshed in her lies.

Chick's tracts are, for the most part, a big joke. Although one or two could pass as acceptable, the rest could do double duty in the outhouse (standing in for the Sears and Roebuck catalog).

His offering of books are just as bad, if not worse. He wholeheartedly support "God And" Ripplinger and other assorted nuts.

Check out his website for a good laugh.

    In Christ,
    Trotter

People like Chick do enormous damage to the public credibility of our faith. A nonbeliever who reads a Chick track may then think that ALL Christians are ignornant, judgemental bigots!

WE seem to come up against this alot don't we Charles? It's sad. But, I've seen a few of his tracts. Although I didn't know the man behind them. Now, I will be more careful

You have to be very careful using chicke tracts. The man teaches hate and lies. You won't introduce a single RCC to true faith in Christ with a chick tract. And isn't that what we are to be doing, introducing unbelievers to Jesus?(no debate on calvinism or armenianism(sp?) wanted).

You're right Donna. I use tracts (enclose with bills, give out at restaurant, etc etc) and pray the Spirit will use the Word.

"This is Your Life", while in crude grotesque cartoon, is about the best of the lot. The rest are crude and offensive. And the videos, etc, and Chick's obsessive hatred of the RCC and all modern versions . . .

I opt not to use any of his materials. There are a lot better on the market.

Chick tracts are quite entertaining. Just don't use them for anything serious.

My kids love the Chick tracts. Why wouldn't they, they are comic books after all. I have to be very careful which ones I let them read and there are only a few I will let them give to others. This was your life is one of them, I can't recall the others.

The ones that are salvation based are acceptable to me for the most part, but any that attack anything (you name it he attacks it) should be avoided. I had a Mormon employee one time who cried discrimination because someone had left an anti LDS chick tract on his tool box.

Something I have tried to teach my boys, there is a time to give a tract and a time not to.
