"Pagan in origin" is by no means the same as being pagan. The handshake, the english language, the toilet, the comb, the hat, and the names of the seven days of the week all have pagan origins, but they are by no means pagan.

BTW, John doesn't mention the birth of Christ. Dunno why. It starts with Jesus as an adult, and though the reader already knew the rest.

The only reason I'm mentioning this is because I love twisting your tail. :D

  3. I'm sortof in the middle on this one. I have no problem with my future children learning about Ol' Saint Nick anymore than I do with them learning about Tom and Huck or Alice in Wonderland. The imagination is a wonderful place. It is simply important to teach the difference between reality and fantasy.

  4. He is chucked full of surprises isn't he?

"These things are not connected with the worship of Jesus, as those of this season are.

Some people are just sticky wicket about some things.

We are to be fools for Christ, but we are not to be foolish. When we push some things to the extreme, we appear quite foolish, and that is no way to win the world for Christ.

The men's tie was prolly of pagan origins as well, and Lord knows who forces men to wear ties all the time.

Cheers,,,,,,and enjoy the season, God bless us, everyone,,,,as Tiny Tim says in that great Christmas fictional classic.

The men in our assembly and some in my family don't wear ties because of that very reason.

I always told my kids that I was Santa Claus's secret identity, Momma was the Easter Bunny, and they were going to grow up and be tooth fairies.

Thankgs that are not christian? humm
Lets see, did you know that Amanna(sp?) who makes kitchen appliances, refrigerator, stoves, washers, dryers is a cult, their name is of course Amanna.
Bali, make women's under garments(possible other clothing items, have never heard) is also a cult owned company.
You just never know whats behimd the products you buy, or other everyday objects you use and their oragins. Ted Turner hate chrsitanity, does that mean if you do watch baseball(I do not) that you would not watch Atlanta Braves becasue of the owners beliefs(not sure if he is still owner, sorry).

The tie is not pagan, by the way. It was first used in France in the kingly court. The fashion moved to the UK where it became quote common, but the ties were so high on the neck that the wearer could barely move his head.

The pagan origin was a poke in the dark. Sometimes I am just plain wrong. That was nasty, and I will try not to be wrong again.. [IMG]

When I first saw the tag line, "Children burned by Santa..." I thought Santa was wandering around with a flamethrower or something. This thread isn't nearly exciting, but entertaining nonetheless. I'll tell you what, if a man in a red fur-fringed suit ever came into my house after midnight and started eating my food, peeking under the tree, and generally messing things up, he'd see wrong end of a .44 magnum in his face (it's a Ruger, by the way, for those who care)!

Oh, can I vote while I'm here? Please, please, please (generally jumping up and down like a child in class)!

To me, a lie is a lie regardless of how cutsie wootsie it is.
