China hacked Am. Power Grid

Yesterday the Congress took steps to harden the power grid. It has been revealed that China has been hacking into our grid although they have not taken steps so far to shut us down.

The head of the NSA issued a blunt warning Thursday to lawmakers: China can shut down the United States.
The grim forecast came from Admiral Michael Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency and commander of the U.S .Cyber Command.
Rogers said he believed China along with “one or two” other countries had the capability to successfully launch a cyber-attack that could shut down the electric grid in parts of the United States.

At a House hearing, Rogers says U.S. adversaries are performing electronic “reconnaissance,” on a regular basis so that they can be in a position to attack the industrial control systems that run everything from chemical facilities to water treatment plants.

That includes China at this time. Former Reagan Defense Undersecretary Frank Gaffney explained it today on Indianapolis radio. China is doing reconnaissance on us.

 

OK, thanks for the info. Apparently other countries have the same capability. Wouldn't one be Russia? What would the other be?

Also, nearly two years ago, shots were fired into transformers in the San Jose area in what has become an unsolved domestic terrorist attack. This is the reason that the grid needs to be hardened. It is said that lack of electricity would kill most of the country in the course of time.
