I rarely watch TV, but when I do, it is to keep updated on what's happening in the world.

Last night I happen to land on Comedy Central where a guy was hosting an informal discussion with four celebrities.

I stopped because I heard the words "Christians are always..blah, blah, blah coming from comedian Kathy Griffin.

The host (Colin Quinn I think) had a picture of a cut-out Jesus hanging on the cross, with an array of paper cut-out clothing to dress him in. I guess this is for sale in stores. It was really blasphemous to say the least.

The host was trying to make a point and was actually arguing with his guest in defense of Christians and Christianity.

While the guest were railing on how hateful and intolerant we Christians are, Quinn kept asking "When were you assaulted or insulted by a Christian"? Of course no one wanted to answer.

The host then asked regarding the blasphemous Jesus product "Would the Muslims let you get away with someone doing this to Muhammad"? Again, no one wanted to answer, they just ignored the host and kept proudly spewing their Christian hate speech.

The host then told them to listen to themselves and then challenged them to talk that way about Muslims, or blacks, or Hindu's and again, he was ignored. He then made the comment that considering all of the hatred being spoken towards Christians, he doubts any Christian would make a fuss, implying that we are pretty tolerant of our persecution over the year. No one else would put up with it and he is right.

It's coming folks. These comedians were so hateful that I could only think of Nazi Germany and the open hatred they had towards the Jews.

I was appalled at what I was hearing.

Brother just get use to it. It is not going to get better. Even Christians today stand for so little.

Doesn't seem like a new thing to me, but perhaps it has grown worse.... But, I'm a child of the 80's (born in '75), so maybe it's just been this way my whole life.

BTW, I like Colin Quinn. He was the host that was trying to defend Christians, right?...

Anyway. Who really values the religious or political opinions of comedians? [IMG]

Persecution is part of the walk, not that I'm thrilled with it by any means. Thank God for Tv personalities who are willing to defend when they have the opportunity. It has been going on for years and years and getting worse and worse.

Keep in mind if other religions fight back, it's normally through terrorism, shall Christians follow suit by killing in masses to get the point across? That's called insanity, and it wouldn't be recognized as anything more than sick.

    Topic: Christian bashing/hatred getting worse...

and many times it Christians bashing other Christians or Christians living lives that are such poor examples that the unsaved use US as examples of 'why bother?'

Rev. 3:15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked-- 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." I wasn't saying anyone actually said we should kill in masses. Since it was mentioned about other religions not putting up with bashing, I was pointing out that other religions normally defend themselves through terroism. I know no one here believes that's what we should do.

People listen to those on tv pretty intensely, especially ones they like, and everyone likes someone who can make them laugh.
Humor can be used to make a tremendous impact on any given issue, and it is much more memorable than a simple statement. It sticks. It's repeated.
The opinion of anyone with the capability to reach thousands or millions should always be taken seriously.

Nothing new. Although Scripture does warn us that the days will get progressively evil, when they were written, the gov't at the time labeled christians as ATHEISTS! Imagine that! Atheists!

Most of us know the context of such a label. I only mention it in order to remind you all that as long as we embrace any 'god' but the Living God, then we will get along just fine with society. Just start mentioning One True God and judgement of sin, NOW you get a face full.

We are not allowed to point out the falsity of others' claims who proclaim one true 'god', like islam for example. That is INTOLERANCE. But it is not INTOLERANCE for them. Why? Because their way is "just one of many ways to god" according to society at large. Where we get their 'dander up' is when we proclaim judgement for sin.

Start mocking ANY religion except Christianity and you will hear..."Bigot!" But it is perfectly ok to mock Christianity. Nothing new here.

BTW; I really do think we western christians protest too much. We have'nt seen anything like a miriad of our other brethren in other countries have seen, yet we cry "FOUL!" when someone calls us derogatory names. WAAAAAAA!

Jeff, I saw the same show on Comedy Central that you did. Actually, I got the impression that Colin Quinn was defending Christianity, not bashing it.
