i love freestyle dancing. dont get me wrong there. lol.

has anybody heard of the group "Limbonius" ?
they are from Abbotsford, BC, Canada.
    they dont have a website.

if you want a sample - pm me and i'll send you one of their songs off their "The Parallax Effect" album.

    God bless.
p.s. its very well done stuff for a homeschooled kid and a guy who grad'd from a christian mennonite school (eek - a mennnonite dancing? the horror!) lol.

    Gekko,

I must admit that I don't believe in 'Dancing' as the world dances..

Not theatrical dance in the church...

Nor, public dancing as see on TV

Nor, between unmarried couples in private.

I know Believers wouldn't dance the way I've seen the unsaved dance as I've channel flipped...

But, that's the first image that comes to mind when the subject of Christian Dance Music comes up...

Sorry, wish I could support this one...

You know how "into" CCM I am...

Funny how there are certain "Christian pet peeves". The Christian who thinks ALL dancing is worldly would probably have no problem exercising jogging or working out, in spite of the fact that there are non Christians who do the same thing. We put our own stamp of approval and disapproval on things whether the Bible says anything about it or not.

It would have been nice to discuss the issues before coming to the conclusion that I might be against everything...

Do you approve of unmarried couples slow dancing?

    I don't. Do I think it's a mortal sin? No...

Otherwise I'd have to excommincate my 18 year old daughter for accepting a few dances at the prom she was covering for the yearbook.

Actually, I was looking more at the dancing than the musical style...

And, if you could ever catch me driving my car with Hillsongs Youth Alive New South Wales playing at 50 of 63 amplitude and beating out the beat with a drum stick. (Too dangerous to use two :D ) You'd know that I like my CCM and a strong beat.

My dislike is the phase "Christian Dance Music".

Sorry, but in spite of my love for CCM this still sounds like an oxymoron...

To me it is unfathomable for a Christian Band to intentional promote Dancing...

Granted this is probably personal tastes and upbringing.

But, I am old enough to admit to it. [IMG]

I wasn't implying that. It seems, though, that dancing is a pet peeve or yours, no?
Here's where we don't agree. You said is it a "mortal sin". I ask...is it sin? You are convinced it is, I don't see how it always is. I see how it could get, or where it could lead, but that's a big difference in whether slow dancing itself is sinful.

The Piano work in Prelude in C-minor was "nice"...

The slow rythms of "Forever" I found, nice as well...

"Falling" is somewhat 'interesting' Kind of a Middle Eastern sound to it... Not, one I'd go out and buy... But, did get my 'interest'.

    As for the rest...

The style is one I personally do not like.

So, asking my opinion might not be a 'good' policy. :D

Ok, I admited I have a thing about dance outside of a Celebration of Praise and Worship...

To be honest I don't have all the reasons why, even.

I know that one of the reasons is the mental picture and gut reaction at the mention of it from things I've seen while channel surfing...

    This is me...

I tried to be careful not to condemn the/your practice. Though as strong as my gut reaction is, I doubt I did a very good job of that... [IMG]

Does this mean you now have "christian" dance music to take to your "christian" beer parties?

Sorry gekko, can't stand Techno  although those 2 SMM mentioned start off kinda cool. ;)

Ever heard of a guy named Jon Buller? He's from somewhere in Canada. Bought his first CD for like $0.45 (USD) off of Christianbook.com.

    If you go here:
    http://www.signpostmusic.com/buller/drum.htm
you can listen to a few samples. My guess from a few other of your posts, that it might not be your style, but in "I'd Rather Be" the rhythm part is a Christian Canadian rapper beat boxing!

I think you can download low quality mp3's from his official website:

What's a "christian" beer party? Since when has food and drink been "christian"?

    Well...

I don't believe there *is* any such thing as a 'christian' beer party...

However, Koinia was a Christian Food and Drink Party, for all practical purposes according to some scholars...

True they were abused in Corith... But, apparently they were somewhat common...

1 Corinthians 11:20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
1 Corinthians 11:21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

My own belief is that it wasn't the gathering together for a common meal that was faulted. But, the way cliches and other abuses had destroyed the whole atmosphere of Communion...

i use some of andy hunter's music in some of the video editing we do in our youth ministry. a few of the tracks are uniquely suited for just fun and active background music to a video!
