Are there any other Christian Forums posters here? Have any of you experienced the pro-Roman Catholic bias there?

They're constantly allowed to tell us that we're not saved, that we're not really a part of the church, but if we bring up even the slightest concern or objection to Roman Catholicism, we're censored, "warned" or banned outright.

The reason I ask is because they're losing good posters in droves because of this and I recogize some of the names from Baptist Board.

I post there sometimes but it's been almost exclusively on the politics and current news forums. I haven't run into a problem with denominational disagreements on those forums.

I have an account there too, but I'm trying to wing myself off it.

I too was getting tired of the inter-denominational quarreling, put-downs and backbiting on that site, so I decided to come here instead.

Since everyone here is of the same denomination, the disagreements here seem far less ill-tempered and fewer and farther between as compared to over there.

Also, I kept getting warnings from one of the moderators, who was a United Methodist, every time she disagreed with something I had to say (anymore, the United Methodist church is nothing but a social club for feminists and feminist wannabe's anyway).

I have also noticed an extremely liberal bias overall on that site, as well as a dominance of Roman Catholics and a kind of overall "Roman Catholic mob rule" mentality.

There is also a relatively large number of false Christians on that site as well. And the site seems to be primarily targeted at the under 25 crowd, especially teens.

The only good thing I can say about that site is that it has very high amount of traffic. But that is only because all denominations are welcome there, which, of course, is also part of its down-fall as well.

Venture onto that site at your own peril, and don't say I didn't warn you. I wish someone would have warned me in advance before I did.

    They are because there's accountability.

I was suspended once on BaptistBoard for ten days. Turns out the guy who did it was abusing his moderator priviledges to get back at people he didn't like and was yanked off the moderating staff pretty quickly.

At Christian Forums, there is no accountability. The mods can do literally whatever they want and there's not a thing you can do about it.

When people first started to leave, they instituted a Protestant and Roman Catholic liason, but now, those guys are no better than the mods they were assigned to watch over. It's a joke.

    The mods here are great.

There's definitely a pro-Roman Catholic bias and I don't believe you or I are the only ones who have noticed it. There have been numerous threads to complain about it and, like I said, they've lost a lot of good posters in the last couple of months because of it.

One of the things that frustrates me so much about it is that you can't ask people questions about their walk with Christ.

For instance, one person said that she was a new Christian and went on to describe a problem she was having. Some of the things she said caused red flags to go up and it was becoming increasingly obvious that there was no real foundation for her faith in Christ. She more or less just repeated the sinners' prayer and that was the end of it.

I tried to probe her a little, asking very general and non-offensive questions. I got a warning for questioning her walk with Christ.

I don't mind that so much, but I do wish that they'd try to curtail some of the atheists who come there.

Were you here on BaptistBoard when they had the big purge of liberals and atheists a couple of years ago? When Reverend Joshua and all of those guys were thrown out?

I was really upset about that and I wrote Bob and some other folks here PMs just about every day to tell them what a mistake that was.

But then, after posting on CF for a while and seeing the damage that folks like that can do to a message board, I began to see the wisdom in it.

Now, what I thought was so terrible on BaptistBoard, I wish they'd do over on CF.

There are some good people over there. Unfortunately, the bad ones (who are usually the ones in charge) have made such a mess out of it, that you'd never know that.

Hey, be careful, cf mods maybe watching you too!!!!!

I have earned my stripes over there,,,,,,,Yes, I know you find this hard to believe,,gentle Jim, meek and mild, as I am, but I too have 3 warnings and 2 cautions, one retraction to be changed to a caution. It is a brick wall over there against 17 and 20 year old mods!!!:tonofbricks:

Enjoy what you have here. This is paradise.

    Cheers,

    Gentle Jim

I post over there sparingly. There are a couple of folks on the Baptist and Fundamentalist Churches forums that I like very much, but on the whole the site is waaaayyy too liberal for me.

Never posted there, but I originally came from another Christian forum. It had very very innactive moderators and one member who ran rough-shod over everyone... especially if you didn't agree with him. Let's say I ain't one who likes to get ran over.

I visited back there not long ago. After said member started running off the few who were posting, one mod got some backbone and banned the dude... and then the other mods and admins wouldn't back him. I left, and so did the majority of members.

It makes me thankfull for the BB and its iron-fisted tyrants... oh, uh... moderators. :D I do their job on another forum, and their's is a thankless task.

I was posting on a couple of forums before I came over here. Most of the trouble with these two were from Adventist. Even one of the mods was biased that way, although I think not an Adventist. I did not see much RCC doctrine over there.

Arguments abounded constantly about Sabbath worship, until I just plain got tired of it. There was no reasoning with them, they had loop-holes for every scripture that was contrary to Adventism you would not believe. Oh yes and Soul Sleep to.

So I decided that I would find a Baptist forum, being they are much more mellow!. Well most of them are. Although I listed myself as a non-denominational, I was baptized Baptist, and my family was Baptist.

But I prefer to just be called Christian, and we hold home study gatherings, but when I do attend a formal service it is Baptist.

So I guess that makes me a non-denominational Baptist - if there is such a thing??. I guess as close as you could get to that, would be Primitive Baptist.

Let 'em watch. Maybe they can learn something from the fine mods we have here.

I think I mentioned this to you before, but I was once given a warning (back in the old days when a "warning" was the equivilent to the current "infraction") because the mod was only 18 years old and didn't understand a cultural reference I made. He, for God only knows what reason, decided it was racist.

Older posters here (certainly not the young'uns like you and me, Jim) will remember the old Burns and Allen radio show where anytime Gracie Allen would say something that didn't make any sense, George would say, somewhat condescendingly, "_______, Gracie?", giving her a chance to deliver the punch line

For example, when she says, "My brother is a big golfer and every time he plays he always wears two pairs of pants" and this is the part where George would say, "Two pairs of pants, Gracie?"

And then she would deliver the punchline, in this case, "Yes, in case he gets a hole in one".

Anyway, in a very lighthearted thread, another poster and I were teasing each other (it was very friendly) and she said something that didn't seem to make sense, so I repeated, "________, Gracie?"

The kid moderator gave me a warning for calling her "a gracie".

I tried to explain to him what it meant but he didn't believe me.

I've heard that it's common Mormon slang to call us Christians "gracers", as a put down, and I can only assume that that's what he thought I meant, except that everybody over there knows me and knows that I'm not a Mormon.

    Oh, well.

On a more serious note, one of the problems I have with them is that there's no requirement for the mods to have a handle on basic Christian doctrine.

There's one poster there who calls herself "united4peace". She denies four key points of the Nicene Creed (their standard for determining who is and isn't a Christian) and declares outright that she does not believe that Jesus died for her sins, but was instead a radical political activist who was killed by the powers that be just to shut Him up.

"herev", one of the mods there who claims to be a Methodist pastor claims that these things are fine and once gave me a warning for daring to question her about these things.

He didn't seem to have a problem with it and that's troubling to me. It may also be a good indication why the UMC is in as much trouble as it is now.

CF (more accurately, RCF - "Roman Catholic Forums") has more toys and features and, frankly, more conversation, but the posters and the mods here are far better.

Funny yall should mention Christian Forums. Cause thats exactly where I came from. Heck I was a site supporter and everything. Its funny how they claim to want to help new christians and everything, but if you want to ask a question, forget about it. Its kind of a two sided deal. What gives?

I've been to three other so called Christian forums, and it's amazing what goes on at some of those places.

If it's the same forums I am thinking of, hard to find a lot of christianity there, some of the stuff in open forums for discussion is absoutly horrorable, I couldn't even repeat it.

I was there for about two weeks total recently. I was asked to go on to explain some of my husband's work.

I didn't mind being told we were phonies and fakes and frauds -- that comes with the territory. It was when I received a warning because I told someone who was saying the Bible was mythology that I hoped the Bible would become God's Word to him that I was taken aback a bit. Evidently I was telling him that he wasn't really a Christian.

He probably wasn't, actually, and I do hope the Bible becomes truly God's Word to him at some point.

Pro RC? Oh yeah! Tradition trumps Bible any day there.

The word mythology has several meanings.

In modern language, it often means "fake" or "not real" because of how many european mythologies (Greek, Roman, Norse) are no longer considered real.

But the word mythology can also be used to describe a style of origins writing/story telling that makes no statement about how real or not the story is, especially in academic fields.

My two awards of Horrible Site Design and Worst Forum go to.....

    Christian Forums!!!

Wow, just had a look over there to see what all the talk was about and it is something else. I registered, looked round, found countless adds for sites being portrayed as posts and a lot of, um, well, anyway, praise God for the BB!

I go to the over 50 site, and 90 per cent of the posters are ill and getting worse. Gets tiresome with so many people ill all the time. I have to look outdoors to be sure I am still alive. At my age, can't be too careful, you know!

In the Baptist forum, a 17 year old is a theology major. One chap makes every post anti-Calvinist, and actually thinks he is making a point.

Yes, much better being here most of the time.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Wow this is an amazing thread. I have been on Christian Forums (CF) for over 3 years. I have only just joined BB, and I am actively looking for a new "Forum Home" for many of the reasons stated. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I am not the only one who thinks that CF really stands for Catholic Forums.
It used to be quite good in the early years, one could have some decent dialogue and interesting discussions of faith and beliefs. However the catholic bias is attrocious now, if not a little embarrasing for CF.
I used to recommend CF many years ago but no longer do.
The funny thing is, that I came from another board (Bibleforums) to Chrisitan Forums because BF was the other extreme, where the very mention of the C word was enough for a warning, and they had no trouble labling the RCC a cult.
It is so hard to find a place just to "Gab about God", but I live in hope.
