How noble to not be involved in politics and how righteous to stand aside and not be a Republican or Democrat and just being a Christian should be enough. Oh, puleeese.

Years ago, in my lifetime, Christians weren't involved in politics. Being involved in politics was considered "dirty." And as a result of not taking a stand and being so heavenly minded, they were no earthly good, Bible reading and prayer got taken out of public schools. Because Christians refused to be salt and light and dirty themselves with dirty politics, Roe v Wade became law of the land, and millions of innocent babies have been ripped apart limb by limb from their mothers' wombs. So, puleeese. :BangHead:

EXCERPT from : The Baptist Faith and Message

XV. The Christian and the Social Order

All Christians are under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ supreme in our own lives and in human society. Means and methods used for the improvement of society and the establishment of righteousness among men can be truly and permanently helpful only when they are rooted in the regeneration of the individual by the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ. In the spirit of Christ, Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. We should work to provide for the orphaned, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick. We should speak on behalf of the unborn and contend for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. Every Christian should seek to bring industry, government, and society as a whole under the sway of the principles of righteousness, truth, and brotherly love. In order to promote these ends Christians should be ready to work with all men of good will in any good cause, always being careful to act in the spirit of love without compromising their loyalty to Christ and His truth.

LE & carpro, both great posts.

Liberals practice racism, especially towards blacks, by telling them they cannot succeed without whitey's help. Welfare & racial hiring quotas are evidence.

Liberals wink at the greed of Hugo Chavez, and Sean Penn, but want wal-mart closed.

Liberals will fight to keep porn shops open, yet want Kent Hovind to have his park shut down.

Liberals are against library internet filters.

Liberals call us hateful for being opposed to gay marriage.

I disagree with carpro's last statement, just to the "good will" part. I oppose ecumenism.

Listen to these far right proclaiming christians. Then read in the New Testament about Christ's distain for the Pharasees. The far right christian movement is today's equivalent of the Pharasees. What hope did Jesus give the Pharasees of reaching Heaven?

Please use the quote feature so I know if you're responding to me or not.

Secondly, I did answer the question, only I didn't provide the answer you were looking for. Jesus was not, is not, nor will he ever be a conservative or liberal.

I'm sorry you find the idea of just being a Christian so hard to fathom. Perhaps if we spent less time on politics and more time worrying about the Gospel, we could have the world-wide revival this world needs? Ya think? I know, I know... "puleeese."

    Are you responding to me?

Please don't be so egotistical to suggest I am copping out, just because I don't play your game. I told you that he WOULD take a position. Your problem is that you think he would be anti-liberal.

Jesus died for everyone, not just Republicans.

Since the Pharisees denied the diety of Christ, your post is full of error, and has no place in here.

I think, if you read and pay attention, you'll know when you are being addressed.

Second, I allready, and this is the third time now, said this isn't democrat/republican thing, but a lieral/conservative. Don't think one means the other.

And yes, when it comes to abortion, global warming, and capitalism, I think Jesus would side with conservatives, and am ready to back it up, with scripture.

Apples and oranges. The Pharisees tried to stuff Jesus in their little religion box just like the Right does.

Post your scripture. From now on, unless you quote me, I won't be responding. I find your tone far too antagonistic for this conversation to be edifying as the Bible commands.

Uh Citizen, get a clue. Brother Curtis thinks out his posts very well, and are always backed up by fact or logic. I dont always agree, but they make sense. Looking at your posts on the degree mill thread, I think you need to calm down and think before posting. You only have 30 posts, and can establish a good reputation. The position you take does not matter, but needs to be thought out. Bro Curtis was not attacking you. This is a debate forum.

Thank you for your backhanded insults. May God bless you as you search my posts and attempt to demonize me for my positions and opinions.

You'll find that those who bring this particular issue up regarding Warren always seem to forget that he had TWO politicians address Saddleback that day: Obama and REPUBLICAN Sam Brownback.

I find it interesting that you claim there are scriptures to back up your position on these ideas. Would you care to post them? I'm not sure Jesus would side with conservatives or liberals on these issues, but I guess it depends on what scriptures you post.

    Matthew 10:29
29Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

Something as small as a sparrow is under the watchful eye of God, but the planet is of no concern?

    Psalm 24:1
1The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

The earth is God's, and God put us in charge of it, but we aren't suppose to take care of it?

    Genesis 2:15
15And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Man was told to dress and keep the garden, not plunder and destroy it.

Citizen, saturneptune was trying to be helpful to you since you are new here, not trying to demonize you. Relax. You have just a few posts under your belt - most of us, including Brother Curtis, have thousands. Relax. People who regularly post in the politics forum know it can get heavy and heated at times, but most know that if insults are actually hurled, as well as innuendoes (which are against posting rules), a moderator (including me) will delete them. So relax a little, okay?

You are entitled to your positions and opinions. (even if some of us believe your positions and opinions are wrong) And those were some good verses you posted.

But the point about the Pharisees is apples and oranges, otherwise known as a strawman in a debate. And the first side to hurl a strawman into the debate is usually losing it which is why they do it. :flower:

Good thing, because I would have been typing a response in all caps!!

All kidding aside, I trust that you and yours are doing well. As for global warming, all I know is that I road my roadie from Jamestown to Williamsburg and back this morning. The trip was 23.6 miles, and I did it in January...................... in shorts!

For me, it's not a question of right/left with respect to doctrine. All too often we focus on our differences rather than our likenesses.

    Your tree-hugging left-wing LIBERAL brother-in-Christ,
    BiR (still wearing shorts)
