On another website, two members of this board raised the following question about pro-life conservatives who don't want Terri Schiavo to be starved and dehydrated to death:

What is the value of one life?

I decided to do a poll that would test your knowledge of what has already been offered and what pro-life conservatives would be willing to do to help the Terri Schiavos of the world.

I voted yes, yes, and I am a pro-life Christian and would be willing to fund her health care through the church or otherwise.

Terri Schiavo has stayed for free at the Woodside Hospice - part of a not-for-profit hospice network - because she was considered indigent, Bushnell said.

-Terri Schiavo's medical costs - which Bushnell says are relatively small - have been paid for the past couple of years by the state's Medicaid program for needy people. APNEWS

You mean the money he's spending to kill her? Gives a new meaning to 'hush money', eh Donna?

    Well,

There is at least one pro-life Christian who say kill her. I am wondering if you would like to say why.

Good! if the churches in this country want
to fund those who are in need in this country
they should be able to do so..now that they
say yes to it..Church leadership that covers
the spectrum of denominations in this country
should unite to help them express that.

and it would still be under the auspices of
secret giving run by the local church.

Then the world would see for sure our testimony
we really have taken value and placed it on
    what we value.

    http://www.baptiststandard.com/2002/4_15/pages/clinic.html

    http://www.religionandsocialpolicy.org/news/article.cfm?id=1671

I think everyone would like to see a massive wave
of openings of food banks, clinics, and hospice
    outreach.

I think the church could do it then we would
feel relief from what the world puts us through
we get frustrated with them but if we put
our testimony into real projects they will see
for themselves we can stand on our own and what
    we believe.

I could see churches in major cities like the
ones in Dallas opening clinics and food banks
that meet the needs of people unconditionally.

You seem to be assuming that Christian Churches don't do these things already. I wonder where you get that idea, and where your evidence is. Interesting how you seem to think the worst about the Church and Christians in general.

Actually what I desire is that they do it
even more to the point it blots out the sun:)

and it bothers me that you take posts from
another board and link it here without even
asking me ..I don't know what the other person
feels about it but lets debate it.

I think its low down and I would hope the board
administrator is aware of the unwritten code
of honor in not trying to mingle two boards
for the purpose of proving a personal point.

When you go down that slippery slope you are
asking other forums to treat us the same with
    cross linking.

When you are in this community forum BE IN IT!
Link to news sources and the like but linking
to other forums is trying to freeze free
expression and people join forums to do that
not expectiong there words will be used against
them or they have let their hair down because
they trust others...then someone comes in and
hijacks there words and links it so as to put
them in a bad light..to me that just stinks.

    imho

As far as I am concerned, if you don't want to be quoted, then don't post in a public forum. You almost sound like you're ashamed of what you wrote, which I can certainly understand.

Quote anything I have written anywhere on the internet. I am not ashamed of what I write, and if I were, I would apologize for it.

    Moderator's note:

I have received a couple of moderator alerts on the starting post of this topic and the question of ethics in posting quotes from another board.

In this moderator's opinion, the starter has observed the correct procedure for free use of internet publication by citing his source in a link. It has not escaped my attention that the starter has pointed out that the question has arisen from members of this site posting on another board. While the opinion of the source posters may be better received among the members of the other site, any information posted on the internet in a non-protected medium (such as ThinkingBaptist or the BaptistBoard) becomes public publication.

Had the discussion been conducted in a private area (i.e., password protected) on the other site, I would not allow it. As it stands, the discussion will not be hindered by this moderator.

I would remind those who oppose the opinions of the source posters that the purpose of this forum is discussion about issues and not the specific individuals who hold opinions about them. No opinions posted within the guidelines of this website will be censored or disallowed by this moderator. At the same time, no one is under any obligation to defend or even respond to the posts. Again, the discussion will be allowed to reach its finality without this moderator's involvement as long as it follows the posting rules set forth by this website.

    Thank you Clint.

Now, I notice that there are now 2 pro-life Christians who say kill her. I am wondering if you would like to tell us why you want her to die so bad.

1: I don't know, however now seeing the number of yes votes it seems someone did. May God bless him.

2: Yes. I read their offer to Terri's "husband" on terrisfight.net a few weeks ago.

3: #3. Whenever I have money I love putting it where my mouth is [IMG]

Yes, Diane, that is sad that anyone would want to kill Terri or kill anyone.

Thank you for posting the results as I have not voted in this poll and cannot see the results.

Why don't you go ahead and vote and then post your opinion here?

I don't like my quotes being taken out of
context or whole cloth anyone can take a
sound bite here or a sound bite there from
another forum and have it support there agenda
if you are to cross link from another forum
you need to ask permission and actually post
the full context and all those who have
posted in relation to that post.

I still think its a slippery slope and it
is like someone who spys in on a conversation
and takes a soundbite and takes it to elevate
    themselves on another forum.

so are we going to intermingle the two boards
or are we not..it still stinks of selective
sound bites that are meant to puff a certain
    someones posistion.

so what are you doing wrong...you are editing
and selecting only things that are not in
    its full context.

plus you are taking one community and trying
to intermingle it with another which most
communitys would rather stand on there own two
feet without someone taking soundbites from
    another forum.

I say it again it stinks and is unbecoming of
an unwritten courtesy of forums not cross
    posting.

It stinks and I think you know that it stinks.

I posted a link to the whole thread. It is unrealistic to think that I can post the entire thread here. If anyone wants to see the context, they can certainly look it up. You really seem ashamed of your words. I wonder why. If you don't want to be quoted on the internet, then don't post in a public forum.
