I have no doubts that there is more to this story than what appears in this article. But before we make this young man a martyr for the Faith please note:
Like I wrote there is more here than what first appears to our eyes.

My sister is a dispatcher in that department. She told me that the young man in question has a history of drugs and combative behavior, including having his parents call for help to subdue him. The officers in question, could not control him (probably because of drugs) and elcted to use the stun guns. The bottom line is that physically combative and violent citizens is exactly why stun guns were purchased by the department. They were having to many officers hurt while trying to subdue violent citizens.

The young man was not walking around he was lying in the middle of the street blocking traffic both ways. Jerseyville has narrow streets and a lot of traffic considering how close they are to Alton and St. Louis. The officers needed to make the arrest so traffic could flow also and the young mans combative nature just added to the problem. The senior officer and patrolman are heart broken by the way it ended they were trying to do their duty and nothing more.

BTW he seems to have been anything but a Christian given his recent arrest record.

Well he seemed to be crying out to the only One that could have helped him. I hope he's with Jesus now.

    Prayed for the officers.

As I noted in my first post, there was more to the story than the AP wire article. :tear:

Sorry, but the "rest" of the story makes me wonder how free drugs are in our society today. The choices the young man made before this incident were very impactive.

We need to pray for our young people, that they will seek the Lord before they are in crisis. We need to pray for the officers who were trying to subdue in a non-lethal manner, too.
