What is your opinion of the nine principles?

You do not need to be a member of a church to attend a study once in a while. You have made the choice to follow your wife in her desired choice for a church and you need to stay where you are.

But then again, I don't know that you've ever listened to the advice you have received here so you will do what you're going to do.

Fair Warning: You will not like my opinion, but you asked.

If I knew whole story (an important qualifier), I would not vote for you to join my church. There would be a concern about your attitude toward the church's authority and its beliefs. Of course, you would be welcome to attend; but as an elder, I would not want you to have church voting rights or be in a position where you could potentially teach.

You have not even joined yet, and you already are kicking against the church? Why would you wish to join when you have been advised against?

Question: Would you be willing to suggest that your pastor be in contact with this other church's pastor to discuss your wish (as in a background check), or would you be embarrassed by what he may tell him about your contentiousness?

Additional Question: Evan, what impression about your commitment to your family do you think that this makes on your Wife and stepson?

So is it your position that if one does not use that method they are not following Jesus?

I have never been in your face with anyone. I have just expressed my views in a discussion based Sunday school environment.

I did not say you have been in my face but your overall attitude you have told us about at your church shows you have been in their face.

Jesus often used the law to convict of sin and so should we.

The rich young ruler, the woman at the well, among others he used the law. He used grace with the humble as he did with Nicodemus, and Zachias the tax collector.

Well I understand you sincerely believe that. You and I would disagree what it means to be in someone's face.

I have been against some of their views most of which I keep to myself unless in a situation to give my view such as a Sunday school.

Wait a minute... You teach Sunday school and when the opportunity comes up, you deliberately teach things contrary to the official theological position of the church you represent?

Dude. Stop preaching. Get two jobs. Pay your debts and provide for your family. In other words . . .

    . . . be a Christian.

As long as you and your wife are disagreed, you cannot pastor. I don't think pastoring or preaching is your love anyway. I think you just like to talk. Of all the self-willed, arrogant know-it-alls that I have met, I can honestly say you're one of them.

Evan, I will ask again, in case you missed it the first time:
(regarding the church that you wish to join) Why would you wish to join when you have been advised against?

Question: Would you be willing to suggest that your pastor be in contact with this other church's pastor to discuss your wish (as in a background check), or would you be embarrassed by what he may tell him about your contentiousness?
