You know I have not heard one single explanation as to why waterboarding is immoral other than the word "torture" is attached to it. Seems to be a mind numbing following blindly based only on emotion and propaganda.

Maybe one of these folks who are against it can describe it and play by play show how each step is a problem.

I bet most folks do not know what it is.

Wait ... I gotta go get some popcorn and bottled water so I can enjoy the show.

By the way, "folks who are against it," no Internet articles. In your own words. (I'll enjoy the laughs I get at your efforts.)

Yeah, I figured that's what your argument was.

Because I know you're not talking about whether I was or not. US Navy SEALS used to be waterboarded as part of SERE training. I don't agree with most of what the article says, but it does prove your stupidity in making that statement. Also, what the article doesn't say is that 1) anyone undergoing JSOC SERE training also, at one time, was waterboarded, and 2) less than half actually broke. It was only bad for the morale of those who broke. So, CTB, take your opinion and ...

I'll leave it to your imagination.

Yeah, whatever. Next time write about something you actually know about.

I see there is that blind use of the word torture again.

You have no more ethics, no more morality, no more conscience, than the filth we are fighting against.

If you are what Christianity has come to be, then it is doomed. :(

If you ever actually been in a war, you would realize the idiocy of that sentence.

If you had any sense of morality you would know that it is not Christian to lower yourself to the use of the tactics of a terrorist.

You make quick judgments. You have no idea where some on this board have been, what they have experienced.

If you weren't functionally brain dead you would have read the Private Message I sent you three days ago.

By the way, Waterboarding torture was invented by the Spanish Inquisition of Torquemada when he used it to torture Protestants into denying their faith, and Jews into converting to the religion of Rome.

He seems to use the old "I know more than you because I was ________ and you were not."

The problem with that is that I was __________ a lot longer than he was, and was involved at the level he can't even imagine.

    :)

"Dr. Allen Keller, the director of the Bellevue Hospital/New York University Program for Survivors of Torture, has treated a number of people who had been subjected to forms of near-asphyxiation, including waterboarding. In an interview for The New Yorker, he argued that "it was indeed torture. 'Some victims were still traumatized years later', he said. One patient couldn't take showers, and panicked when it rained. 'The fear of being killed is a terrifying experience', he said". Keller also gave a full description in 2007 in testimony before the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on the practice." (Keller, Allen S. (25 September 2007). "Water-boarding". Statement by Allen S. Keller at the Hearing on U.S. Interrogation Policy and Executive Order 13440. United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. )

"Waterboarding was designated as illegal by U.S. generals in the Vietnam War. On 21 January 1968, The Washington Post published a front-page photograph of two U.S soldiers and one South Vietnamese soldier participating in the waterboarding of a North Vietnamese POW near Da Nang. The photograph led to the soldier being court-martialled by a U.S. military court within one month of its publication, and he was dishonorably discharged from the army." (Pincus, Walter (5 October 2006). "Waterboarding Historically Controversial". The Washington Post. p. A17)

The US Army thought the practice was so unethical, immoral, and illegal, that they cashiered the man caught doing it.

It's hard to believe those in this thread claiming "superior" knowledge based on"superior" service were unaware of this. Maybe that "superior" service was not all that superior.

Says who? Perhaps you need to understand who you are talking to, what his background is, and why he makes the statements he makes, and as for this ...
... I don't care where you or anyone else has been. If they exhibit the blatant stupidity some here exhibit, wherever they've been didn't teach them a dang thing.

I do not need to know everything about you. It is obvious from your statements that you have no sense of morality.

I expect you are not nearly as tough as you make out. If you were really tough you would not have to brag about it.

As I said, you know nothing or almost nothing about who the people are that you call stupid. It is obvious you have no idea what Socialism is about not what Communism is about. Have you ever read any book on the philosophy of either system?

"on the condition of anonymity" Who woulda thunk it???

    Why now?

"...a sprawling network of secret detention facilities, or “black sites,” that was dismantled by President Obama in 2009."

Obama is our hero, our leader...our "savior". His specialty...saving us from ourselves.

Actually I understand that an induced hypnotic state is an alternative method to torture for picking a man's brain.

No pain, no screaming, just a trance like nap, a conversation and you're done. However it's said to be far from infallible.

I suppose that this method would also involve the moral component of coercion howbeit painless.

    Chloral Hydrate anyone?

An excellent rant. Covers the personal insult, negates first-hand experience, and labels the opposing member "stupid" while ignoring the context of the previous use of that term as applying to the statements made, not the member himself. I give it an A-.

You do not know others personal experience. You are the one who, having nothing of substance to say, call others stupid. I have not called you stupid or even ignorant. On insults, you are the king of insults.

    Thanks for the compliment.
