KenH that is not the point with me about
Cindy Shehan it was she was shown the ditch
and told to walk in a ditch...regardless where
you stand on the issue that is wrong.

you are just parroting the attack machine of
the self-loathing gay boy Drudge and now another
    mr.pervert Bill O'reilly is attacking her..they
miss the point..mothers who have lost loved ones
and who protest should not be shown the ditch...
    period.

So people knew that was wrong well let just find
another angle to attack this woman..yeah thats
the ticket lets swiftboat her like we did Kerry
    that will work.

Now you have changed your mind and talk of draw
down as before it was ..don't come home until
the job is done ..or finish the job..or another
soundbite they must be their to honor those who
have fallen..now are you changing your mind
    again!

The Sheriff claims to be concerned that the protest was disrupting traffic; however representatives of the news media were only ordered off the road when the demonstrators were stopped.

There are two forces operating here. First, the sheriff sets up a requirement for protesters to walk where a sensible person would not walk, where common sense dictates that one is safer on the right-of-way than in the grass. Second, after the protesters failed the requirement, as law enforcement officers knew they would, the protest was stopped, and the media was out-waited for the story.

If we pull out of Iraq too soon all the American and British soldiers who died there will have died in vain, just like the 50,000+ in Viet Nam. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

After dinner at the famed West Hollywood restaurant Dan Tana's, he suggested we go bar hopping along the gay strip on Santa Monica Boulevard, which Drudge navigated like a pro. ... (Six months hence, I received the following e-mail message from Drudge, under the subject heading "XXX." Drudge wrote: "Laura [Ingraham] spreading stuff about you and me being lovers. I should only be so lucky. ") "

Finally, the Democrat Party has taken up this cause!

Byron York of National Review online has reported that a conference call was arranged at the roadside encampment and a participant in that call was an Illinois Democrat.

"Also taking part in the call was Illinois Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky, a frequent participant in progressive political conferences and anti-war events. Schakowsky took part in an unofficial Democratic hearing on the Downing Street Memo conducted last June in Washington. Sheehan testified at that hearing, giving a painful and moving account of seeing her son in his coffin."

I think that it is time for the Democrats to get this poor lady whose son was killed in the war a nice motel room as she has said that she intends to stay until the end of August. Can you imagine the GOP asking some supplicant to camp by the side of the road like some Dust Bowl refugee of the 1930s trying to sneak into California after California passed a law forbidding immigration into California by poor people?

Mike Mck ..either defend drudge and call him an angel
or don't ..I have repeatedly said in my ownership
    of indignation that this worm
is a botoom feeder and represents fear mongering
and smear mongering that drives this country down
and he is attacking a mother who was shown the
ditch ..and that was my salient point days ago
regardless where you come down on the war.

So I am tired of it and hitting back..plain
and simple he needs to held accountable and not
be given a free ride he is fair game in this.

Why? I don't have a problem with him.

I haven't seen him making goofy accusations against anybody or behaving in an Unchristlike way, the way that seems to be habitual with you.

Could you please show us where he has "attacked" anybody?

Is that what Jesus taught you? To hit back?

By the way, thanks for your well thought out and Christlike PM.

No one can fault you, Aslanspal, for attacking the Libertarian Party. There are not too many around here who will stick up for Libertarians except in the case of Ron Paul, Congressman from Texas.

It is good to see that the Democrats have involved an Illinois representative in this bizarre case in Texas involving a soldier who gave his life for his country. The soldier's mother has promised to live in the tent until the end of August, which must be a very miserable life for what can only be considered as a rising star in Democrat politics and a factor to be reckoned with in the elections of November 2006. I am hoping that the Democrats will accept her as an operative and move to ease her bad living conditions by finding suitable housing for her now that her political star status has been assured. Certainly, she will be a guest and a star at all major Democrat events from now on. I should think that Teddy Kennedy should invite her to Cape Cod.

I see that ASLANSPAL can't defend Mrs. Sheehan who has been smacked down by many of her relatives in a letter released to the press but instead has resorted to attacking a person who links to news stories.

No wonder your side keeps losing national elections, ASLANSPAL, as your side has nothing of substance offer but only attacks.

I don't have a link to the story about the mother of the soldier and her relatives, but I found that the Democrats are taking up her cause in numbers now! This is from the Oakland Tribune, "U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., circulated a letter Wednesday urging Bush to meet with Sheehan and other fallen soldiers' relatives, and to ensure they're not arrested while awaiting such a meeting. Among several dozen Democrats who signed it were Barbara Lee, D-Oakland; Pete Stark, D-Fremont; George Miller, D-Martinez; Lynn Woolsey, D-San Rafael; Mike Honda, D-San Jose; and Zoe Lofgren, D-San Jose."

It is also reported by the same source that "On Saturday, two high-level Bush administration officials — the national security adviser and deputy White House chief of staff — talked to Sheehan for about 20 minutes."

This is the birth of a Democrat star.

President Bush said this today at Crawford according to Fox News:

Speaking from his ranch in Crawford, Texas, where he and some of his top advisers were meeting in what has become an annual ritual to consider foreign policy issues, Bush said he grieves for every death of an American soldier, but that pulling out of Iraq would send the wrong message to the enemy that the United States is weak.

"You know, I grieve for every death. It breaks my heart to think about a family weeping over the loss of a loved one. I understand the anguish that some feel about the death that takes place. I also have heard the voices of those saying: 'Pull out now.' And I've thought about their cry and their sincere desire to reduce the loss of life by pulling our troops out. I just strongly disagree," he said.

"Pulling the troops out would send a terrible signal to the enemy," he added. "Pulling troops out prematurely will betray the Iraqis. Our mission in Iraq, as I said earlier, is to fight the terrorists, is to train the Iraqis. And we're making progress training the Iraqis."

Agree, carpro. Leftists have a hard time in choosing the right location to wage their political battles. They are political locationally challenged. [IMG]

Wait a minute. Are you two saying that she is camped on the right side of the road?

Another bizarre thing is that leftist and modernists usually don't care for people in the ditch but Mrs. Sheehan seems to be an exception.

Okay, here's what I would expect my President to do under these circumstances, especially since there is a media blackout to prevent Americans from seeing the flag-draped coffins as they come home....

I would expect MY President to realize that this is an unpopular war that has cost the lives of so many young American sons & daughters, husbands & wives & I would expect my President to invite ALL of the mothers, fathers & spouses of the fallen to the White House for a State Dinner in which he would personally provide condolences to the families. I would expect MY President to have that amount of class and statesmanship. We throw billions of dollars in foreign aid to countries who deplore us - the very LEAST I would expect from my President is to do something on the order of what I posted.

As I stated in another post, I feel sorry for this woman. I don't care if she is a Democratic rising star or not. She lost her son. She should not be reduced to camping out and she should not be relegated to the ditch.

The fact remains that America is VERY divided over this war and all American lives lost over there will be wasted if we pull out today, next year, or 10 years from now because the Iraqi people as a whole aren't motivated to come up to the plate. Our military is winning battles but America will not win the war on terrorism. It is an ideological battle that can't be solved in Iraq.

She is camping out voluntarily - as a public relations stunt. She could stay in a motel or in a comrade's house in Crawford.
