Unless he tries to indoctrinate his students and players with his views, he is entitled to his opinions and to voice them away from his place of employment.

If we held college professors to the same standard, most colleges would have to close. Indoctrination is their main business.

He posted this letter on his personal Facebook page. The question would be--does his personal Facebook page identify him as the lacrosse coach of his school? If so, it gets a bit murkier.

An entry like:

"Scott Lees, Fryeburg Academy lacrosse coach" and then the letter published on the same page could be a problem.

Mr. Lees was also the person that maintained the school's lacrosse Facebook page, though apparently he didn't post the letter there.

 

Yes and with all the talk of bakeries and people being allowed to provide services for the public the same applies to a school and who they want representing them.

 

I doubt the leftists here will agree with you and me. Free speech is not their thing...unless it's speech they agree with.

Everything he said was blatantly untrue and unnecessarily hostile towards a certain group of people and the school which is open to all races and religions does not want to be associated with that.
