Diet Coke (although I do enjoy a Sprite Zero every now and then, but that wasn't on the list)

    What she said...

You need an option in your poll "whatever is on sale this week" :) I'd vote for that.

Better yet, webdog, whichever one is offering my kids the most junk at the moment.

Right now that would be Coca Cola products.

The real winner in my book is Dr. Pepper!

Where are Ginger Ale and Root Beer? Non-caffinated sodas are far more stimulating than those that are for me....

Cherry Coke, and let's not forget Lime Coke, though that seems to be dwindling. Then, regular Coke. If I can't find those, then Cherry Pepsi and Lime Pepsi. But regular Pepsi (which I used to drink more) has come to taste like candy to me compared to Coke.
I also liked the Coke II back when they had it.
I got a Cherry Coke Zero the other day by accident, and they have improved the no-cal taste. I don't know if these new no cal/diet sodas are using Splenda, but I don't see that name in the ingredients, but I still see Aspartame, so it seems they are mixing or something. I had splenda in tea a couple of times, and it was not as noticeable as the old Aspartame stuff. I can't stand the old Aspartame/Saccharin diet sodas. The Zero and Pepsi One is almost drinkable to me. I would hope they wopuld eventually perfect the left handed sugar, which is natural sugar, but with a reverse molecule that does not stay in the body as calories. (Found in things like seaweed, but not enough supply).

Scientist have recently discovered that it's not the artificial sweetner that makes diet pop taste inferior to regular...but the consistancy and texture found in the corn syrup. I guess our mouths send a signal to our brains that something thicker is sweeter or something. Scientists are now trying to replicate a non sugar corn syrup to mimick the same effect as regular pop...meaning diet will taste the same as regular.

That's funny. Diet never seemed thicker or thinner to me.
The soda at first seem the same, but it's the aftertaste that is different. You wait for the fullness of the taste to kick in, and it doesn't, but instead, it's this bitter chemical "twang". This is what has gotten better in the newer no-cal stuff. It still has less of the aftertaste, but it also has less of the unnatural twang.

I think that aftertaste is what the scientists are blaming the texture on. I guess we'll see. I notice if I mix 3/4 diet with a small amount of regular coke, that kills the aftertaste, too.

    Preferred beverage

I do not drink sodas much any more.

My beverage of choice is Hot Tea. Almost always make 52 ounces of the stuff each morning. One tea bag of flavored green tea - one tea bag of orange pecot tea - one bag of flavored white tea - and either a bag of herb tea or a second flavored green tea.

Tea is good for diabetics - and that's me - just sweet Dan!

I have 9 different colors of 52 ounce "Bubba Mugs" that keep the tea at least warm for most of the day.
