Betty, I always eat too much at those places too! LOL. It's now up to $7.50 but well worth it.

Well good night to all of you! I'll catch you in the morning if I can grab the computer before Nick loads a racing game! LOL

Somebody tell me Sherrie is OK! I havn't been on in a few days, I come back, see a message that she needs R&R, and find all her posts in #13 edited to nothing by her. Does she just need rest? Was there a problem that I missed? Not matter what I think I will be in prayer for her.

Good Morning Everyone. I hope you are all well [IMG] It is quite cloudy and dull here in Gloucester today and we have had some rain. I really don't mind the rain, to me it is another of the Lord's blessings to us, and He knows what we need [IMG]

Our American brothers and sisters left yesterday morning and there were many tissuses being passed round in the car park as the men finally got ALL the luggage in the bus and they had to get on board. They were here for just a short time yet it seems like we have known them for ever. Hopefully it won't be too long before we are making the trip to the U.S. to see them [IMG] They were all wonderful house guests and we so much enjoyed sharing our homes with them, and we enjoyed showing them some of our countryside and heritage when they had time to spare and the evening revival meetings were such a blessing. I am now well into Southern Gospel :D
Well, I have got things to do but will be back later, just thought I would bring you all up to date.

    God Bless

    Good Morning Bill and Sheila!

OK. Coffee made and ready in case anyone wants any. The cold drinks and fresh homemade goodies are all ready to go too.

Bill: Welcome! I was thinking about you and Jeanne the other day when I read that Rockford had it's 6th confirmed, human case of MonkeyPox and a possible 12 more unconfirmed. Are ya'll all right up there? That's getting too close to my neck of the woods to be comfy!

Sherrie is absent right now and did not wish her thread, "The Coffee Shop" to be used in her absence. So we started "The Coffee House" to keep the friendships, we have made with each other, intact until/if she returns.

Sheila: I am so glad you enjoyed your visitors so much. What part of the states will you be visiting when you come over? Girl, if you're gonna beat me in here in the morning, please put the coffee on... :D

Sue, Sorry, I completely forgot the coffee. (that's because I am not a morning person and Rob usually makes the first pot) [IMG]

They were from NC, but I will have to wait til I have finished next summers semester before we can really think about going over. [IMG]

We introduced our sister in Christ to croissants and pains au chocalat....and double cream...

one of the others said " when we get home, if you hear a scream...I have just got on the scales" [IMG] [IMG]

Sheila; Don't worry about the coffee, whoever wants a cup and gets here first can make their own. :D

Croissants...hmmmmm. We serve crumpets, but I will see what I can do about getting some croissants if you will eat them. Most of us here are either on a diet or diabetic; but we still carry sweets for those who are not.

Sue, it was a treat for our American sister in Christ. We wanted to show her as much of how we lived in a very short time. The croissants and pains au chocolat are a treat for Sunday breakfast sometimes. Usually we have toast. She had that too. We also introduced her to Toad in the Hole  [IMG] which proved to be popular too and...she liked the Stilton cheese and Yorkshire puddings :D One of the "must haves" to take back home were cookery books [IMG]

    Blessings

When I was young, my mother made an egg in the center of a piece of toast. Is that a Toad in the Hole? People have so many different names for the same thing...I think that's what she called it, but can't remember!

Sue, to make Toad in the Hole:

cook sausages in the oven is a largish baking dish, like a lasagne dish. when cooked, pour a batter mixture over and bake for a further 30 minutes or so in a hot oven until the batter is risen and crispy round the edges [IMG]

batter: 4 ounces of flour, 1/2 pint of milk, i large egg, put all ingredients into blender and whizz.

Serve with potatoes, and veg, we like crispy, buttered cabbage and mashed swede and loads of onion gravy [IMG]

    Enjoy, blessings

Good morning. Here for my daily cup of hot cocoa.
Diane, we love Ryan's too, but we don't have one. The closest one is 40 miles away. Every couple of months we make a shopping trip there and try to eat at Ryan's when we do.
Well, I'm off to the yard sales today.

Morning Katie! Here is your hot cocoa!

If you find any "Campbell Soup Kids" items at the garage sales, please buy them for me. I will pay for them and the shipping! That's what I'm doing my kitchen in now. :D

Sheila: That recipe sounds delicious. You should post that in the Women's Forum under the 'Recipe' thread! But what is 'swede'? Is that anything like our 'turnip'?

Hello everyone! and cheers to all.

Indeed swede in England is turnip in America. In England we always thought of turnip as cattle fodder, so we used the proper name, swede, for our domesticated use....it is prim and proper, you know.... [IMG]

    Cheers,

    Jim

    FollowingHim will get this one:

All me life I wanted to be a barrer boy,
A barrer boy I've always wanted to be.
I wheels me barrer, I pushes it with pride,
    I'm a coster, a coster, from over t'other side.
I turns me back on all the old society
I'm going where the ripe bananas grow.
I sells 'em a dozen a shilling, that's 'ow I makes me livin'
    Get off me barrer!
I ought to 'ave been a barrer boy years ago.

    [IMG] [IMG] ;)

    Cheers,

    Jim

Morning Jim! Did you sleep in? :D

Thanks for the info on swedes. I eat my turnips the same way you eat your swedes Sheila! I usually opt for mashed potatoes though. [IMG]

Grandson just woke up and wants breakfast. I will be back a little later. I need to do some work around here. Since I've joined the BB, my housework is like a juicy steak....rarely done!
